Armin Strom Tourbillon Gravity Fire Watch With Micro-Rotor
Whatever you may think of the practicality of a tourbillon in a watch, there's no escaping that they are quite a visual treat to watch while they work away. Normally when a watch has one, though, that's all you really see of the movement from the dial side. The folks over at Armin Strom give us more of a show, however, as they follow the design direction it's namesake founder (a Master Skeletonizer) set for the brand 40 years ago. Their latest gives us another treat that I don't know I've ever seen visible from the front of a watch.The trick that the Armin Strom Tourbillon Gravity Fire (ref RG14-TF.M.90) has up its sleeve is a micro-rotor. It was only a matter of time until LUM-TEC created a diver watch, and I couldn't be happier about the result (that will be released late next year). While LUM-TEC still refers to the watch as the 500M concept sometimes, it is going into production as a limited edition of 500 pieces. The watch includes all of that LUM-TEC DNA we love in a package that we can't resist. 5164A vs 5712A
Hi guys I'm looking to add my first PP into my line-up but having trouble deciding between the two: Aquanaut Traveltime 5164 and Nautilus 5712A. While I've had the chance to see the 5164 in the metal, I've so far only seen the 5711 in real.My thoughts until now are that the aquanaut is much sportier and might suit my age better. Also my classy sportswatch spot is already kinda taken by my AP15202 jumbo. However I also already have the gmt batman thus the traveltime function seems redundant, altho I very much like the overall look of the 5164. Then again the Nautilus is legendary and the more I look at the 5712 the more I like it (won't be able to get the 5711 here from an AD anyways). The micro-rotor movement is stunning too. But I feel like I would be too scared to wear the 5712 much, similar to the 15202, considering the delicate finish.
