Editorial: Personal Thoughts On The Phillips Start-Stop-Reset Steel Chronographs Sale
The art of the thematic watch sale is a delicate one, indeed. In the modern era, the benchmark by which all other thematic sales are measured is that of the Christie's-under-Aurel-Bacs Lesson One: Daytona sale, where 50 watches sold, 50 records were set, and the final sale brought in a mind-blowing four times the high estimate. I was in the audience, and the room was really, truly electric – and not just electric for a watch auction, which as you may know, means very little, but like, actually exciting. This sale was crazy, and the results were mind-blowing – the reverberations of which we still feel today in the current Daytona market, two and a half years later. Since then, we've seen other thematic sales both by Christie's – Patek 175 and Speedmaster NYC, and another by Bacs in the Glamorous Day-Date sale at his new home, Phillips – but none seemed to capture the same excitement with watch fans, or bidders. My First AP: 26331ST Panda!
Just wanted to say hello to everyone here and include a couple of photos of my new 26331ST. It's my first AP and first from a higher end brand. Before this watch, my collection primarily included Rolex, Omega, and Grand Seiko. I love chronographs and use the complication on a regular basis at work, so it was natural for me want a ROC as my first AP. I tried on a few ROCs at the AD, including the 26320 in both the white and black dials, and the 26331 white dial really stood out to me. I was never able to see or try on a blue dial ROC in-person, but I convinced myself that I would still prefer the white panda dial over it, as I just love the contrast of the sub-dials, as well as the silvery finish of the tapisserie dial. Besides the beauty of the dial, case and bracelet, I was very impressed with the feeling when engaging the chronograph buttons. It is so soft and refined compared to the other chronographs I have operated. I have a feeling it will not be my last Royal Oak watch
Which ceramic dial version
Thinking of swapping my 44FC for a Ceramic and wondering if any owners of the new 2017 dial version out there. With 5 warranty and drop in rrp for new dial do think the older ceramic dial are due price adjustment as currently there is not a lot of difference in price between the 2.Any owners for new dial version wish they had got the older dial ?I'm on the fence and can go either way.
First incoming of 2015...
Well I'm very happy to say I have the first new (to me) Patek of 2015 inbound! The only bad part is I will be parting with my beloved 5970G and probably my 5960/1A...but it will be worth it! Any guesses?Hope everyone's having a great weekend
5170 j question
Hello,I have been reading your posts for a few months now and there is certainly a lot of great conversation. I just received my new 5170 j and wondering if anyone knows the proper amount of rotations of the crown to be fully wound.
