SIHH 2015: Piaget Presents the World’s Thinnest Hand-Wound Chronograph (Updated with Live Photo and Price)
Piaget watches have long been renowned for their elegant thinness, and the brand has set numerous watch-world thinness records with its releases of recent years. The new Piaget Altiplano Chronograph, which debuted this week at SIHH 2015 sets another one, for world’s thinnest hand-wound flyback chronograph. The Piaget Altiplano Chronograph actually sets two new slimness records, both for the movement (just 4.65 mm thick) and the case (a wafer-like 8.24 mm). Piaget has created 25 in-house movements that it considers “ultra-thin,” with 14 of them holding world records in their category. This latest is Caliber 883P, based on Piaget’s 880P, the thinnest automatic movement on the market. Two years of development went into its creation, and the finished movement boasts unprecedented thinness in several key components, including the cannon-pinion (.12 mm), barrel staff (.115 mm), and chronograph gear finger (.06 mm). Piaget also managed to equip the movement with a 50-
WATCH WHAT-IF: Tudor Black Bay
Watch What-If - the watches-dealer series where we invite guest designers to imagine existing watches in new ways - is back with a look at the Tudor Black Bay. Watch enthusiast and artist Synaptyx takes a look at this modern "classic" from Tudor that interprets the brand's design heritage in a way that has captivated so many of today's watch lovers. watches-dealer reviewed the Tudor Black Bay watch here. Here are some words from Synaptyx on his designs:Recently, there has been a big push in Superhero movies, and there are tie-ins in every market. I thought why not a versatile Tudor watch for Superheroes, Super-villains, and Super-spies. This line of thinking lead me to the drawing board and back to the Tudor Black Bay that I wanted to see, but with a twist. Here is a snowflake-dialed Tudor Black Bay in some super-character driven iterations.Above, to our Super-spy, James Bond. What modern day Tudor could he get the most use out of? A GMT version seems like a good fit, with all that tra
Bremont ALT1-WT World Time Watch
For all intents and purpose this new Bremont ALT1-WT is the commercial version of the exclusive Bremont C-17 Globemaster watch that I discussed here. While the C-17 (C17) Globemaster was not to be available for public purchase, the ALT1-WT will be. The watch takes the brand's signature aviator style and adds a world time bezel and GMT indicator into the mix of complications. It makes for a very good travel watch and I am glad that Bremont decided to offer a version of the Globemaster for "everyone else."The ALT1-WT will be positioned as one of Bremont's new for 2012 watch models. But there will be other models as well. The differences between this model and the Globemaster are minor - being mostly the caseback and dial changes as far as I can tell. Bremont makes it clear that this watch is an adoption of the C-17 Globemaster. The case done with specially hardened steel and is 43mm wide. The most recognizable element is the rotating city ring that is to be used in conjunction with the 2

Incoming Wifes first!!!!!
Bought my wife a 114200 this week. Her first Rolex!!When I almost had to pry my DJ 36mm from my wife's arm 2 months ago while her Tag was in for a battery I figured well that makes this years gift easy for me!! In her eyes all these years I've been wearing silly watches or they just tell time !!!Funny how once you wear one for a while you don't want to let it go!!I got her the 34mm since she likes the bigger watch but with her tiny wrists my 36mm did look a little big. I hope she enjoys hers as much as I enjoy mine! Wrist shot to follow on the morning of the 25th!!!
