In-Depth: The Science, History, And Romance Behind The Longines Lindbergh Hour Angle Watch
Possibly one of the most unusual and unlikely timepieces in Longines’ very extensive heritage collection is this one: the Lindbergh Hour Angle, which is an almost exact replica of an historical timepiece made by Longines and distributed in the USA by Longines-Wittnauer, in 1930-31. Lindbergh designed the watch – whose features we’ll get into in depth in a minute – in order to ease a pretty challenging task. That task is figuring out where you are, which nowadays we take for granted; finding out your location, thanks to a global Internet and satellite network, has become a trivial thing. You probably have some general notion that navigation wasn’t exactly a walk in the park before GPS, and if you are into watches you’ve probably heard of a guy named John Harrison, who invented the first reliable marine chronometer all the way back in 1761. The problem with the Lindbergh Hour Angle Watch is that almost none of us seem to understand exactly how it
Didn't know this model existed...
Was surfing through the official AP site and came across this beauty....in BLACK dial! Looks absolutely stunning!Didn't know it existed in black so wanted to share here
Patek AD Expansion
The Patek AD in La Jolla - C.J. Charles - is expanding their store to take over the next door business to better display its huge selection of Pateks, Langes, Panerais, Cartiers, IWCs, etc. Sales associates are both friendly and knowledgeable. They love to talk watches and monitor this forum. They also freely give out the latest catalogues for all watches, including the hardbound book of Langes (which I declined since I am not interested in that brand. Their collection of Lange is unparalleled, IMO).Current Pateks include Calatravas, Complications, and both Nautilus (5711 Gold on bracelet) and Aquanaut (I think SS, but don't remember). C.J. Charles is sited next to Westime, which has its own selection of high end watches.Anyone in the San Diego area should feel free to pop over to La Jolla and visit the watch stores on Prospect Avenue (the main street). PS: There is a waiting list for SS 5711's, naturally.
Newbie here needs intervention
I think I have a problem. I just became a member here last week. It took me all of one day to buy a BLNR from the classified section! I've been into watches a very long time but this is by far the nicest piece I've owned. I'm loving this watch so much that I'm literally obsessing over wanting to acquire more. Somehow having this one on my wrist changed everything. So my question is for those of you that have already been down this road, how do you control yourself from selling everything you own to buy more watches?!?
Flipped and bought again
Hi TRFers,As someone relatively new to Rolex allow me to ask you this:What Rolex have you sold only to buy it (same model) again after awhile, and why?Thank you for your replies.
