“During most of my journey from Bangkok to Calcutta, I was seated at the place of the First Officer, next to the commander in a DC-4 from Thai Airways. The captain explained to me in detail what kind of watch pilots from all nations would actually need. According to him this watch is not on the market.”Those words were penned in 1953 by Samuel Glur, a traveling executive with the Altus-Glycine watch company of Biel, Switzerland. His letter went on to list the requirements for the perfect pilot’s watch for the new era of intercontinental commercial air travel. My Wife's Royal Oak back from APSC!

Significant price difference between 5167 and 5711
With the 20% price increase in March on the 5711, the price differential with the 5167 widens significantly. I wonder how this will effect demand on the 5167, presuming there is no price increase at Baselworld? Considering these pieces share the same 324 SC caliber, the difference in price post March makes the 5167 potentially better value than it has been historically relative to the 5711 (setting aside desirability/Gerald Genta designed/resale etc). As a previous owner of the 5167 who regrets selling as I really miss it, I am hoping to buy another soon (waiting for the call from my AD - hoping this will be before any price increase on the 5167). It will be interesting to see what happens after the effect of the price increase on the 5711 takes effect and whether there are any changes at Basel this year to the Aquanaut. If nothing changes, I would imagine the 5167 will become more desirable, although not quite at the level of the iconic 5711. It seems to me the 5167 will be extremely

Been racking my brain between the SubC, SubC Date, and the SD43.
I’m having a tough time deciding between the Sub, SubC, and the new Sea Dweller. I read some previous threads and am more confused than ever. A bit about me:-I never look at the date complication on my watch, I don’t even set the date on watches that have it -I do a ton of research and contemplating beforehand, and then never sell any of my watches-I have 6 3/4” wrists-I own an Explorer 1-Comfortable with the price difference between all 3 watchesWhat I see as the positives and negatives of eachND Sub:P-Cleanest dialP-Under the RadarN-Have an Explorer 1 and worry that if I added a bezel and replaced the numbers I’d have a sub.
