Bexei Watches: Some Of The Finest In The World & Made In Hungary
Aaron Becsei of Bexei watches is a fellow Hungarian and the only watchmaker in this tiny Central-European country who builds watches from scratch to finish. That already puts him in a rather unique position, but what makes him and his work really interesting from our point of view is that he actually makes some of the finest high-end watches, crafted to a level of quality that is on par with any large manufacture or famed independent. And if you think my patriotism is taking over my ability to judge in a non-partial way, then I urge you to read on, as we find out how one man can make some of the finest watches all by himself, one at a time, at a pace of less than half a dozen a year.During the last 12 months, I have paid three visits to Aaron Becsei, and we both put the months that passed between my visits to good use. For one, all this time allowed him to craft a handful of pieces that make up his yearly production and are delivered to some discerning (and very private) collectors. Se
Visit to APSC FL
Hi there!Today I had the day off and decided to drop, un-anounced, by APSC to have on link removed from my newly acquired 26300. To my surprise, what I thought it would be an in&out process turned out to be a remarkable experience. So, I drove my 1 hour to the new APSC Location, right by the water, expecting a fairly casual process where a guy with a tiny tool would take care of business in less than 5 mins...well, this is what happened:- Arrived to the Building, which is pretty big, and I was immediately greeted by a Security Guard. He took me to the second floor (first floor looks like it is dedicated to shipping & receiving), where I waited in a nice reception, walls nicely adorned with AP Movements and the brand founders. On a nice table, there were a couple of AP Books. On a side note, Security is so high that I would have probably needed one of those scanner cards, and assigned/personalized password, just to flush the restroom toilet. I don't blame them tough.I proba
Leather Strap for Omega Speedmatser 3573.50
This is my first Omega (maybe my only?). Found one brand new in wrap overseas. Anyways, I'd like to get a nice leather strap for it, but I'm not sure what leather strap models will fit the 3573.50. Also, do you know if I can pick up a leather strap with the Omega watch clasp (rather than the buckle)?
Liquid Metal Planet Ocean
Any estimates on the price of the 37.5mm blue PO to be released? I might have to get one to go along with my black PO. For those of you who have the 45mm version, does the lesser weight of the titanium feel weird? Thanks!
Advice On Appropriate Calatrava
I'm entertaining an idea involving a non-Patek sports watch as a daily and especially weekender watch, and (here's where your opinion comes in) a special occasion/occasional office wear Calatrava.I would wear the Calatrava every week at least a day or two or three. But I can't decide between a dressier looking, manual wind, no date, sub-seconds watch? or an automatic, sweep second, date window model? Thoughts please?
