New from Parmigiani: Two Wristwatches Inspired by the Past
Parmigiani Fleurier has unveiled two new limited-edition wristwatches inspired by antique pocketwatches from a collection owned by Parmigiani Fleurier's parent, the Sandoz Foundation. Both wristwatches are part of Parmigiani's Toric collection. Find images, prices and wallpaper inside. The pocketwatches that inspired the new wristwatches are on view in New York at the well-known vintage-jewelry and Russian-art gallery La Vielle Russie. They are part of an exhibit called Mechanical Wonders, featuring 50 pieces from the Sandoz Collection, and running through Nov. 26. Watch lovers will be familiar with many of the items because they are normally on view at the famous Muse d'Horlogerie in Le Locle, Switzerland. The first new wristwatch has unusual telescopic hands that get longer or shorter as they rotate around the oval dial. It was modeled on a pocketwatch from the early 19th century, also oval, with similar hands. The new watch is $95,000. There will be 30 pieces in rose gold and
Switzerland - China Free-Trade Agreement Will Greatly Disrupt Swiss Watch Sales Globally
Federal Councillor and Head of the Federal Department of Economic Affairs of Switzerland with the Chinese Minister of Commerce. Image Credit: AFPSeveral days ago something of great importance to the global luxury watch industry happened in Beijing. On July 6th, 2013 Switzerland and China signed a bilateral free-trade agreement. A historic move, it is the first agreement of its type between China and a European country, and the deal was motivated on the Swiss side by the interests of the watch industry. While potentially good for the Swiss watch industry, the move will likely have devastating effects on the global watch retail market over the next few years.China is the single largest importer of Swiss goods next to the European Union and the United States of America. Estimates put the trade value of bilateral trade between Switzerland and China at over $26 billion. About 32% of that is Swiss watches. Chinese consumers have a great fondness for European luxury goods, including, to a lar
Watches you will never sell.
Hey guys I was just wondering, do you have a watch/watches that you will never ever sell under any circumstances? I know that I will never be selling my 1960 ss cal 600 Omega, my 1968 Timex Waferthin, or my 1951 14k yg Lord Elgin. I intend to keep them all as family heirlooms.
Seamaster Pro 300 Hard Turning Bezel
I recently acquired a Seamaster Pro 300, the pre Bond style with the solid hands and dashes instead of dots on the dial. It is a wonderful watch and my Submariner will get less wrist time because of that. One of the things I'm less than impressed with on the Seamaster is the bezel. It seems that the bezel is difficult to very difficult to turn in comparison to the Submariner, is this normal? Do any of you have both a Seamaster and a Submariner how does turning the bezel compare on your watches. The watch just came back from a complete service before I purchased it so it's got a 2 year warranty if something isn't right.
