Magrette Regattare Bronze Watch
The newest limited edition watch from New Zealand based Magrette is this Regattare Bronze (technically called the Ragattare Vintage Bronze), and there is a lot to love here. The Regattare collection is one of Magrette's mainstay models that have seen numerous versions and revisions over the years. Now in bronze, collectors and style aficionado's get an interesting case material option at+ a solid price.Bronze is not typically used for watch cases but 2010 and 2011 saw a range of bronze watches being released for the collector's market. It would be a tough material to sell to the mainstream given the metal's tendency to oxidize - which is exactly why some collector's like the material though. Bronze develops a patina over time (not that much time) that appears like discoloration on the metal. This is valued to some collectors as their watch will not only look unique (no two age the same) but also because the aging will help the timepiece look like a vintage item. For the 44mm wide Regatt
Interview: A Look Inside The Personal Watch Collection Of Ralph Lauren
To put it simply, there is no one that has influenced all of us more in the way that we dress and think about style than Ralph Lauren. What started 40 years ago with one young man from the Bronx with an eye for design has turned into not just a global empire, but also an entire way of thinking – a world that has come to envelop far more than simply the Northeastern preppiness of Polo, but also the urbane chic-ness of the handmade Purple Label and the Southwestern workwear meets Brooklyn aura of RRL. Ralph Lauren's influence reaches far beyond clothes, into home goods and decorations, leather and accessories – each encompassing not a style, but an entire approach to living, one directed completely by Ralph himself. And that is what this story is about – Ralph himself. In this exclusive interview, I sit down with the legendary designer to speak about his own watch collection, and those that he has designed – including the just-released Automotive Skeleton watch
Avenger blacksteel + $5000= M SS Daytona
Hi, I'm about to trade my M serial SS Daytona for a Breitling skyland avenger blacksteel + $5000 (cash) from the other person. Do you guys think I should go for it. I've wanted this breitling for a long time so now here's my chance to own the watch. So the other person is like buying my daytona for $8500. Should I pull the trigger? Let me know please.
If a white dial PO and a black dial PO had a baby:
Picked up this modded PO 8500 a few days ago. Left the factory white dial/white bezel and the owner also bought a grey bezel from a black dial and had it put on the white dial making a striking mod. The original white bezel was included in the sale.Started life something like this:Now looks like this:Let's look at thickness. I'm not saying it isn't think...it is, but here are a few shots relative to other watches instead of in a vaccuum. This compares the PO, the Heuer Autavia and 3570The PO and Autavia are virtually the same heightIf you wear the Speedmaster on NATO, it wear just as tall as the PO.Beautifully finished twin barrel engine featuring Si14:Very, Very nice dial work with thick applied markers and logo and incredible inkLike others, not happy that the clasp does not offer micro adjustments but a 1/2 link does the trick:At the end of the day, I love the contrast of white dial and grey bezel. It wears tall, but I have other watches that wear just as tall, and few that are thin
Gotta Love the Speedies
Especially the Apollo Soyuz ,has anybody else got one of these?I got mine May 2010, and love it to bits but does anyone think much to them? They seemed to hang around a bit in the AD's but i dont see that many come up for sale now.I have an 80's speedmaster and that looks fantastic, im a big fan of Speedmaster and most of the Ltd Editions, thogh tried an Alaska Prject on which i had wanted for a while, wasnt my cup of tea which i was a bit disappointed about.Would love to see other peoples Speedies!
