Introducing: The New Rolex Oyster Perpetual Explorer, Now With Chromalight Display, Updated Hands, And Superlative Chronometer Certification
With habitual punctuality, Rolex unveiled their entire 2016 lineup on Press Day at exactly 12 p.m. As ever, it features many of the company’s classic models, updated with novel features. However, they also introduced some big surprises, such as a stainless steel Daytona with black ceramic bezel and an Oyster Perpetual Explorer with Chomalight display. 1 OF 3 The watch pictured above here is not a customized Rolex. Far from it. It's the latest Explorer which now comes with a new luminescent material inside the model’s familiar 3, 6, and 9 numerals as well as in the hour markers. Called Chromalight, this exclusive material emits an intense blue glow, which increases the legibility of the dial significantly in low light conditions. 2 OF 3 Rolex has also revisited the hour and minute hands. They are broader and longer than in previous models. The case is otherwise unchanged. Made in 904L steel, it measures a cool 39 mm. Inside, the watch houses c
Need some input with my collection
Looking to switch up my collections a little bit and wanted to get some feedback. So I have a few options I have been running in my head.Current collection is AP RO RG silver dial on leather strap, Rolex GMT TT, couple vintage pieces (one VC one Rolex) and a couple Carl F Bucherer that I wear for beaters and under the radar.I am looking to add a rubber band watch, leaning toward AP Diver black dial or VC Chrono black or blue dial with blue rubber, old version. Also looking to move the GMT to a SS Rolex. If I don't go blue dial VC would be looking to add blue dial, something like the Rolex Day Just II WG bezel.I do not want a Rolex Daytona, some reason they just don't sing to me like some of the other pieces. So break down of options and what my lineup would look like.AP RO, GMT TT, VC Chrono blue dialAP RO, GMT TT, AP DiverAP RO, Day Just II blue dial, AP DiverAP RO, Day just II blue dial, VC Chrono black dialAP RO, GMT SS, VC Chrono blue dialAP RO and other options.Couple things to
Black leather on black steel and rare vintage Breitlings
So I'd been tossing around the idea of getting a leather band for the winter. Is it me or does anyone else notice a huge change in Breitling leather straps as of a few years ago? They used to be supple, perfectly stitched and the breitling markings were more deeply imprinted on the inside of the straps. Now, I find the new straps feel cheap and harsh. Well long story short, I found an NOS older black 22/18 strap and jumped on it. Quite pleased with the results. I also have to give a shout out to the service tech at NYC's Breitling boutique. A very nice gentleman who showed me some really amazing rare vintage Breitlings that he had in the service room. I'll post some photos below.
