Davosa Vigo Review
We're always on the lookout for brands that offer especially good value for a mechanical watch. Especially if that watch happens to be Swiss made and powered by a high quality movement and even more so if that movement happens to have an interesting complication, such as a GMT or chronograph. Davosa, a German brand established in 1993, specializes in offering such watches. Ranging from a few hundred to around $2,000, the Davosa watches have classic looks, high quality components and the build quality one would expect from a "Swiss Made" watch.? Unfortunately, like many smaller European brands, you (if you're in the US) might not have heard of them. Well let's change that.Case: SteelMovement: ETA 2893-2Dial: BlackLume: YesLens: Sapphire with A/R coatingStrap: Black LeatherWater Res.: 50mDimensions: 40x46mmThickness: 12 mmLug Width: 20 mmCrown: 7 x 4 mm screw downWarranty: NAThe Davosa Vigo Dual-Time is a watch that immediately caught my eye. Hands-On: With The Baume & Mercier Clifton 1892 Flying Tourbillon (Live Pics & Pricing)
Although Baume & Mercier is best known for its more affordable offerings, the brand is not limited to basic entry-level watches. At SIHH 2014, Baume & Mercier introduced its first tourbillon wristwatch, the Clifton 1892 Flying Tourbillon, combining the clean style of the other Clifton watches with a more exclusive complication. The name is a nod to the historic Baume & Mercier tourbillon pocket watch that served as inspiration and the watch really does bring something unexpected to the Clifton line-up. Here's a closer look at this horological curve ball.?Baume & Mercier first introduced the Clifton collection last year. The idea was to use a simple mid-century aesthetic to create highly-wearable and well-priced watches that appeal to those looking for something vintage-inspired. The most complicated watch from the inaugural collection was a triple calendar?with moonphase and this year saw both a chronograph and a retrograde date added to the mix. 2 OF 16 But, the most com
Just delivered...
I just rejoined AP ownership after a long absence. It took me a while to decide which one to choose. I looked at the RO chronograph, the calendar watch, and the Jumbo. Went with the new Jumbo and its stunning. Sorry for the poor photographs but I was at the office and it still has some plastic on it.Best regards,Dino
What is this Omega? Is it worth servicing?
So my mom was cleaning out her cupboards and she stumbled upon this vintage Omega that she got from her boss a long time ago when she started working. I have the box and all paperwork including the original purchase receipt, date of purchase, serial number, etc.I couldn't find any markers on the underside of the watch, but the receipt is dated November 20, 1977. The gold strap that the watch is on right now isn't original, but I have the original leather strap as well also in mint condition (pictured). Is it worth restoring? The watch is in pretty much mint condition since my mom has never worn it for the past 30+ years. However due to its age it obviously would need some servicing.Any insight into what it actually is would be really helpful!
Two hour flight for my rolex
So my local AD has me on a ~3 month wait-list for my watch, while a more distance AD seems to suggest that I can get one within the month. Although I would have to hop on a plane for 2 hours (4 hours round trip) to pick up said watch. Tax savings and/or perceived (read assumed) discount will more then cover the cost of a ticket. Of course I am not hoping on a plane until the distance AD text me a picture of my watch. Is there any downside from getting a watch from AD that won't be readily accessible going forward? Would potentially make a day trip out of this when/if availability raises.
