Orient Producer Review
It's always fun when a watch takes you by surprise. You know, when you've seen something in pictures, but it didn't really click with you, then you see it in person and you get it. In the metal, as they say, the watch makes sense. Perhaps the detailing is better than expected, perhaps the size and weight just work for you, perhaps it has a subtle charm that can only be found when it's on your wrist. This was the case for me and the Orient Producer.Immediately, since it's an Orient I know it's going to be a great value and decently made, especially at the price for a mechanical. But, the look isn't really one that I find inherently appealing. I'm not huge on rectangular watches (though the Orient Masquerade I had was very cool) or open-heart dials. While the design was fine, a handsome dress watch with hints of Art Deco, it just didn't call out to me. But upon receiving it for review, the appeal was immediately clear. It has a commanding presence with a strong, geometric design. It's not
Hands-On: With The Gr?nefeld Parallax Tourbillon (Live Pics + Official Pricing)
Basel World is always a lot of fun for us. Not only do we get to see all of the newest releases from the big boys like Omega, Rolex, TAG Heuer, Blancpain, Patek, and Breguet, but we also get to see some friends that we only get to hang with a few times per year. It's even more fun when some of those friends happen to be some really talented watchmakers doing things in a completely different way than those guys mentioned above. The Gr?nefeld Brothers are truly talented watchmakers (both trained at Renaud et Papi), and two honestly good guys. Which is why it's so great to see them pushing things past their time-only, mega-bad ass One Hertz with oversized dead-seconds and show us a brand new in-house tourbillon: The Parallax. 2 OF 5 Blake was nice enough to give us a run-down on this piece when it was announced (read full details here) so I'll just point out a few things that struck me about this watch. First, it really is a direct extension of the One Hertz, aesthetically.
Picked this up over the weekend .... AP15305
and I couldn't be happier......
Nice Watch... my Boss has one....
I was up at the mall buying car seats for the baby on Friday. Passing by Kay's, my wife wanted her rings cleaned, so we stopped in. They are in the cleaner, and she is looking around So she sits down and the salesman is showing her some really nice setting and band upgrades, and he happens to glance and notice my Speedy Pro. Nice Watch! My Boss Has one. The guy was, Im guessing, in his early to mid 40's.What can I say, being 25, I felt pretty G at that moment
