Rolex Modernizes the Day-Date with a New Size and Caliber
Rolex Day-Date 40 white gold Ref. 228239OverviewOriginally introduced in 1956, the Rolex Day-Date was the last flagship model Rolex founder Hans Wilsdorf created, and it is considered to be his ultimate achievement. Also known as the “President’s watch,” the Day-Date has a rich heritage of being worn by presidents, CEOs, visionaries and important leaders around the world. Some might call it the ultimate symbol of prestige, achievement, and success.HistoryIn 1945, Rolex revolutionized calendar legibility with its Datejust, the first wristwatch chronometer to indicate the date in a window at 3 o’clock. The Cyclops lens, invented by Rolex, would be added in 1953 to further facilitate reading of the date. In 1956, with the Day-Date, Wilsdorf perfected the modern calendar by adding the day of the week, spelled out in full, in a window at 12 o’clock on the dial.Rolex Day-Date 40 Everose gold Ref. 228235For the first time on a wristwatch, the day was shown in ful

Introducing the Junghans Meister Telemeter
A couple of weeks before Basel, I had the pleasure of getting to see a watch that, if it were possible, would have made my jaw hit the floor. That kind of watch that makes you unintentionally ignore the very nice PR person who is showing you it, because you get lost in all of the little details you need to examine and absorb. Then, at Basel, I had the chance to see it again, along side of color variations, and it confirmed that, yes, this was one of the most stunning watches I've seen in a while. The watch is the Junghans Meister Telemeter, and it's a watch to take serious note of. Not only does it singularly hit so many aesthetic pleasure centers, it's an interesting departure for this old and epic brand. If you're a regular reader of worn&wound, you will have seen Junghans mentioned a few times, first in a general article on the Meister line, a series of watches that mixes the best of minimalism, vintage and dress, followed by an article on two of the Max Bill collection, arguably
INCOMING!!!!!!! My grail just landed
I love it! I am debating on getting the tang to make it more comfortable. Anybody run the tang buckle instead of the deploy? I also ordered ordered the rubber strap
Grail achieved!
Hey guys. Finally got the watch I've wanted since I knew of the existence of the submariner. I always thought I'd never ever be able to get this watch. As the years went on I became devastated by the price increase year after year. I was offered a solid deal from a friend who bought this watch to get a friend out of a bind, but didn't necessarily want it. I did whatever I could to have the funds together ASAP and picked it up yesterday! 1975 Serif dial 5513. Keeping beautiful time, all it needs is a crown tube / crown and a new PIP.I'm over the moon! Let me know what you all think! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
