A New Respect For Quartz Movement Watches: From Spring To Battery
I think it's time for the hard-core mechanical watch enthusiast to give their distant cousin - quartz watches - a little more respect. I guess in my own way, I'm as guilty as the next guy, when it comes to comparing mechanical watches to quartz watches. When I was in the watch repair business, I flatly refused to take in quartz watches, and felt it below my standards as a watchmaker to change a battery in a quartz watch. I felt that quartz watches would make watchmakers obsolete, and in a way it actually did.In the 1970s and 1980s, the population of watchmakers, particularly in the USA, dropped off to endangered species numbers. If it had been 20 years later, you'd have college kids chaining themselves to Macy's Department store, demanding that we save the watchmakers. This snobbery carried into the 1990s, and the new breed of watch enthusiasts looked down their collective noses at quartz watches. VEC Baselworld and SIHH coming up all the houses of the day
VEC Baselworld and SIHH (Salon International of Haute Horologerie) coming up all the houses of the day before up to show their new models. BASELWORLD takes place April 3-10 and SIHH takes place on 7-12 April. The WPHH (World presentation of Haute Horlogerie) created by Franck Muller Watchland I know not when, as I can't find a date.

Rolex Sport Model Shortage
Back when I purchased my no date SS Sub in July, I thought the dealers were bluffing when they said it was going to be impossible to get a SS Sub by the latter part of the year. Well, it turns out maybe they were right. My friend here in Dallas has been trying to get one, and after calling all the dealers within 100 miles, no luck. They have told him it could be Feb/March before they are available again.Crazy. Guess that means ours have gotten at least a temporary bump in value
