MB&F HM3 "The Frog" Watch Hands-On
"Ribbit..." Here is the first derivative watch based on the MB&F Horological Machine # 3 (HM3) (which I wrote about here). While MB&F releases about one brand new watch each year, they also have special models based on their standard collection of Horological Machines. This watch will be known as the MB&F HM3 "The Frog." There are two versions of the watch - one in a darker, PVD black coated titanium with a green toned 22k gold automatic rotor (12 pieces), and a titanum version with a blue 22k gold automatic rotor (20 pieces). That is a total of 32 HM3 Frog watches in total. Both look pretty interesting, with this bug-eyed (I mean amphibian) eyed watch having no analogs in the watch world. Why the "Frog?" According the MB&F one of their customers said the two dome-like structures on the original HM3 looked like frog's eyes sticking out of water - as frogs enjoy being in water with their eyes exposed to look for prey. Gentlemen, show me your scratches!!
So, I've just picked up a 15400 blue to keep my PP 5711 company and I absolutely love the watch - the design, the weight, the clasp, and the stunning blue dial. Now, I'm not feint of heart, I wear my every Rolex I own with PCLs without fear of scratches (they happen to add character IMHO), but with the new RO I want to wear it as freely, but do fear scratches (more so than with the PCL Rolex lines) as the flat planes/edges of the watch are simply stunning. In order to help me get over this silly fear of scratches, can you kindly post pics of your well-worn 15400's, 15300's, esteemed 15202's, and chronos to assuage my concerns.I happen to come from the NO POLISH at any cost school of thought so your pictures will be most appreciated. Thanks in advance - very happy to have joined the club!!
Question about determining which spring bar pin to use for Omega Seamaster 30
My first official post here, I tend to lurk a lot... Recently came into possession of an Omega Seamaster 30 from ~1965One of the spring bar pins was jammed tight so I completely yanked it off with a set of pliers (lol).. Any idea how to determine which type of spring bar pin to replace it with? 20mm??? Or should I just take it to a service shop in the mall?
Aquanaut for fiance: pigs must be flying
Well....my fiance' who was NOT at all into watches has come around. After getting my first Patek a year ago (and now in the process of acquiring my 3rd), my fiance' now knows most brands of watches and picks them out on tv shows, planes, etc. She's got the bug :)So, when we were in Aruba last week, she and I both saw this one at the AD and she tried it on --- she loved it as did I.I've never seen a post on this, so was wondering what everyone thought? A fan, not a fan? Does anyone have it and what are your thoughts?
