Swatch Group Enjoys Rebound in Second Half of 2009
Swatch Group struck a positive tone in its 2009 financial report as results for the second half of the year were much stronger than the first half, when watch sales were down 16.4%. Watch sales finished the year down 5.5% at a constant rate, largely outperforming Swiss Watch Federation export sales figures for the same period. The Group forecasts improved sales and margins in 2010. Swatch Group sees continuing recovery from the sharp economic downturn that began in late 2008, and the group reported increased market share in nearly all price segments for 2009. The report states in part:“The last months of 2009 showed a very positive development, with clear signs of market normalization and increased consumer confidence. To some degree, the economic crisis 2009 has separated the wheat from the chaff. Konstantin Chaykin Lunokhod New Moon Watch
As a follow-up model to their Lunokhod watch, Russian Konstantin Chaykin releases the very limited edition Lunokhod New Moon. I guess they call it that because it is their new moon phase watch. The original Lunokhod was a very interesting and inspired watch that I discussed hands on here.The original Lunokhod featured the same case design but was done in an old-style metal called wootz steel. The Lunokhod New Moon has been offered in 18k gold. I think it is yellow gold, and would the first yellow gold watch I have seen in a long time. It still has a sort of artisinal look to it, but the gold material suits the design nicely. The technical difference is that the seconds dial is now a retrograde dial. While not an improvement or anything over the original. It is an interesting new look and seems to suit the dial design better. Who has better lume Omega or Marathon?
I'm looking very seriously at pulling the trigger on a Marathon SAR as I'd like a seriously rugged dive watch with very good lume. I've had a 2254.50 omega and was thrilled with the lume. I'm a bit dissapointed with the lume on my Sub Date. How does marathon stack up?Thanks Guys
