Cartier Astroregulateur Watch Flies In Space
2011 might be the "Astro" year for Cartier. Last year's Cartier Rotonde Astrotourbillon was such a hit that 2011 will have at least two new "Astro" watches. One will be the Calibre Astrotourbillon (with the Rotonde's existing movement), while this one is something totally different. The "Astroregulateur" (Astroregulator) has an escapement that is connected to the automatic rotor - that is mounted on the front of the dial. This concept is really confusing if you don't see it in action. Thankfully, there is a short video by SJX of the Purists on YouTube that we can check out that confirms what I assumed about how the movement worked. All of this is part of Cartier not letting down the fight in terms of showing the world how much they have to offer the watch nerd - as well as the style lover. The Astroregulator has an escapement and subsidiary seconds dial that spins freely with the rotor. The seconds hand still goes around the dial each minute, but the dial itself is spins around. Accordin
Buying 15400 in UK
Hey all,Currently in the UK, about to travel back to the states. I have the opportunity to pick up the 15400 for 14300, and then get the tax back. Ultimately it comes out to just a hair under $16,000. However, looking at DavidSW, I see he has the 15400 for just under $14,000. Based on current Rolex prices, they're significantly cheaper over here but it seems that the same is not true for APs. Am I missing something here? Should I just go with DavidSW or is there some reason that getting the warranty and buying from an AD is that much better? Thanks!
Speedmaster hunt. 1st Vintage
Well after being a new watch only collector, I have decided to focus on getting a Omega Speedmaster. I have been doing a lot of reading and looking all over the net. I am looking for a watch that has some special attrubutes. (Like the 1968/1969 861 transitional (applied logo, long markers etc..) I am willing to spend up to $5,000. I want something worn and vintage looking with original parts, but not a watch that looks like it has been run over by a truck. Suggestions??
Speedmaster clasp vs Seamaster clasp
Will the shorter speedmaster clasp interchange with the seamaster clasp? The bracelet links appear to be identical. I have no need for the dive suit extention and would prefer the look of the smaller speedmaster clasp on my midsize SMP.Thanks,N.K.
DAYDATE 18038 VS CURRENT MODELs
Hi,I'm looking forward to buy a pre-owned 18038 with custom leather strap. I searched online and did not find much info in terms of comparison. Can anyone let me know how both these models are different from each other and what precautions I'd need to take with this vintage watch if I end up buying it (in terms of water damage, scratches on face etc). Also any idea how much these watches cost in second hand market? Thanks for all your help.
