My First Grail Watch: Matt Smith-Johnson
Welcome back to an original watches-dealer feature, "My First Grail Watch." In this series, we ask prominent people in the watch industry about the first timepiece that they lusted after. Today, we are touching base with another member of team ABTW that you likely are not familiar with, Matt Smith-Johnson. Read on to learn about his true first grail, how his grandfather got his interest in watches started, and what he calls out as his holy grail watch.watches-dealer (ABTW): Who are you, and what is your relationship to the watch industry?Matt Smith-Johnson: Hey there! My name is Matt Smith-Johnson, and I'm the Art Director for ABTW. Additionally, I am the owner and maker of Teenage Grandpa watch straps. Along with those responsibilities, I'm also a freelance Creative Director based in Toronto.ABTW: When did your fascination with watches start?Matt Smith-Johnson: This may sound ridiculous, but I cannot remember a time where I wasn't fascinated with watches. Seiko Golgo 13 Watches
This year Seiko will have released four limited edition watches in honor of the famous Japanese manga series Golgo 13. "Duke Togo," aka Golgo 13 is the main character of the manga series that has been running since the late 1960s. In Japan, Golgo 13 is extremely recognizable and the four watches are true fanboy collector items of the highest quality. Now you too can kill enemies just like Duke! Another super cool watch. It has been too long since I have enjoyed some good anime. As an American, I had to grow up with Japanese culture from afar, but it was still very influential. I've long enjoyed Japanese cartoons and characters - even if I didn't have all the cultural lenses with which to fully understand them. I need to catch up a bit. What good stuff has come out in the last few years that is on par wit

233, 321, or 499?
I've been attracted to Panerai for some time now. Something about them that I can't explain. I keep looking at them. I've been doing some window shopping and the 233,321, and 499 sing to me. Any suggestions for my first Panerai piece?
