SIHH 2015: Baume & Mercier’s New Classima Collection
At SIHH in Geneva, Baume & Mercier presented its redesigned Classima collection. Targeted at entry-level consumers, the Classima line includes men’s steel and two-tone automatic models. The Classima collection’s new watches are 3-hand models with date display. They are built off of a Sellita SW200 base caliber, similar to the ETA 2824. It beats at 28,800 vph and how a power reserve of 38 hours. Each brand is vying for the attention and respect of the Chinese consumer - who is fundamentally a different animal than that the western consumer as I understand it. I hear tales of how Chinese consumers actually understand the mechanics of watches, know the values, and have keen eyes for details. Scary stuff for some watch retailers and some brands! Actually this is good. Not that people like us are without knowledge, but we aren't exactly the "typical" watch buyer here in the states (

Well after only being a Rolex and Panerai guy, I bought an Omega today. I purchased the Alaska Project Speedy Pro and it should be here on Tuesday. I really needed a white dial in my collection and I think this piece fits the bill. Pics to follow......
