Hamilton X-Mach: Are You Moving Faster Than Sound?
Hamilton’s new 44mm X-Mach lets you measure an aircraft’s speed relative to that of sound – Hamilton calls this the “Machmeter” feature. To perform this feat however, you need to be sitting in the cockpit. Pilots set the pressure altitude (PA) and calibrated air speed (CAS) measured by the aircraft’s instruments by turning the right crown of the watch to reveal the Mach number in ISA (International Standard Atmosphere) conditions on the bezel. Consistent with its mission, the X-Mach is designed to capture the look of aircraft instruments. Both variations (stainless steel with or without black PVD) have a smooth black dial with silver-colored indices and matching counter frames. The case features carbon fiber inserts and white or black numerical markings around the bezel. Weird Watch Art By Dominic Wilcox
From time-to-time we come across art inspired by, or placed directly inside of, a watch or clock. An watches-dealer reader was nice enough to share with us the work of UK-born and -based Dominic Wilcox, who, among other things, has made wrist and pocket watch dials a palette for artistic expression.Wilcox calls these creations "Watch Sculptures" and they start with vintage wrist and pocket watches that he has acquired. The first step is removing the crystal and replacing them with a tall dome to make room for the small sculptures and figurines that he creates. Wilcox claims to be inspired by both real and imagined situations, and uses the motion of the watch hands as part of the art. Omega PO bezel insert change Question
Hi all,I have been enjoying my new Planet Ocean 8500. However, I would like to change the bezel from black to orange. I don't want to have to send it in for it to be done. Is there any way I could purchase an orange bezel and do it myself. I've seen youtube videos of people changing there bezel inserts by using an ordinary butter knife. Can it be done on the new PO?I would hate to have to send it in and pay a ton more when it could be easier. Of course that's the question. Is it?I know there are a few threads on here that it has been done, but not exactly how. Someone on here took theirs to a local jeweler and they did it. Mine here will not touch Rolex or Omega because they aren't qualified or something. The dealer I purchased from may not either....So does anyone have any advise?Thanks!

8500 Question???
I tried a search, with no success. This may be an old question.I am reading on the new 8500/8501 movements, and the Omega in power people are saying they plan on putting this movement in all their watches, soon. Does anyone out there know much about this movement. Is it worth waiting for? The key quality, for me, was it needs very little maintenance. I have also read recently, that watch machanics are getting dangerously low. It will become difficult to get you quaility automatic serviced. jdsons (Julian)PS. In the wild today....
In a 30 minute span while walking down Abbott Kinney in Venice Beach California today, I have seen a vintage looking AP (two tone I think), a Daytona ceramic white dial and a WG BLRO!!!! In just 30 minutes.I hope they all consulted TRF first about whether it was safe to walk around wearing these fine timepieces...I feel like a bum in my 116610LN right now.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
