Collection of 4,300+ Swatch Watches Sells for $6,650,000
One of the most complete collections of Swatch watches in the world sold for HK$51,707,500 or nearly $6,650,000 in Hong Kong recently. Swiss businessman Peter Blum and his wife Linda assembled the collection over a period of years. The collection’s 4363 pieces includes a large number of prototypes, hybrids and production variants never brought to market. Many of the prototypes date from the extraordinary period prior to commercialization of the first Swatch watches in the early 1980s, and so are extremely rare. Among the most interesting and sought-after by collectors are a number of prototypes designed by the American artist Keith Haring, as well as the artist's legendary Swatch watches Modele avec Personnage, Milles Pattes, Serpent and Blanc sur Noir. Additional rarities include Swatch watches created by artists Mimmo Paladino, Alfred Hofkunst and Sam Francis.Conducted by Phillips de Pury & Company, this one-of-a-kind auction attracted considerable interest during pre-sale
Let's talk 15202
Hey Gang,Currently I've been thinking about changing some things up in my collection, ok I'm always doing that but...I had received an offer from a super nice guy here on TRF for a trade which included me receiving a 15202. Although that specific trade did not come to fruition, it did put the 15202 on my brain radar So here's the question:I currently own a 15400 silver dial which I really love. If I had to think of one complaint it would be mayyyybe it's a tad big. It looks fine on me. I do like the size. It gives it a bit of a sporty look on an otherwise very dressed up watch. The 15400 seems to not get much love here on the forum, overshadowed by the 15300 and even more so by the 15202. I'm fine with that, I'm past buying watches only because they are popular . So I thought I'd get some thoughts about the 15202 when it gets down to the brass tacks. PRO's:-The 15202 may be considered the purist Royal Oak, retaining much of the DNA from the original Genta design. From an horological p
I'm pretty impressed so far.......Breitling SOH content
I picked this guy up recently and have really been enjoying it. This is my first Breitling and I am thinking I got a pretty good bang for my buck with this one. My wife actually said that she likes this one the most out of all the nice watches I have owned and currently own. It's kinda funny considering this is probably the cheapest watch I have bought in years, but it does look amazing on the wrist. I was actually leaning towards the IWC Aquatimer when I noticed the SOH. I actually decided to buy both but then realised that the IWC had some wear marks since it had been in the case and tried on multiple times. They did not have any others in the safe so I said I would wait a bit and just enjoy the SOH. Well, now I don't think I even want the IWC, this has satisfied the itch that I was looking to scratch. The thing that made the Breitling win out over the IWC was the fact that, well, it looks amazing, but also, it has 24mm lugs. This watch has opened the door to all those wonderful Paner
Are saying? is Seamaster the Top of the Line?
Hello friendsI'm about to enter the world Omega and Panerai. But here I focus only on Omega and I can not decide. I think I'll decide for a Seamaster. Is this the most prized collection line? I like watches with leather bracelet. Are saying?
Replacement Patek box interior - where to buy?
My wife's anual calendar Patek box which is a late 2000s rosewood box I believe. The interior on the piece that holds the watch which is easily removed had a lot of discolouration on it, like purple or brown blotches. We assumed it must be humidity related. Anyway, she wants to part exchange the watch and we are concerned we will be low balled by the store just because of the discolour on the practically worthless element of the box, probably worth about $5 to build. Everything else on the box and watch is mint with papers, but would like this to be mint too so she can get the best value on a part ex
