The November-December issue of WatchTime is on newsstands now (and also in the WatchTime online shop), featuring our test of the Omega Speedmaster Mark II, a showcase of Patek Philippe’s 24 most historic wristwatches, a horological tour of Switzerland’s Valle de Joux,? and more. Scroll down for highlights from the issue? In the cover feature, A Sleeker Speedy, Jens Koch tests the recently re-released Omega Speedmaster Mark II, a more streamlined version of the Speedmaster that landed on the moon in 1969. Koch’s hands-on analysis provides all the pros and cons of this retro-styled timepiece, and Nik Sch?lzel provides original photos of the watch and its movement. F.P. Journe Releases Octa Perpetual Calendar
Independent watchmaker Francois-Paul Journe has added a ninth model to his eponymous brand’s Octa collection, called the F.P. Journe Quantime Perptuel, a perpetual calendar timepiece with an instantaneous jump function. The watch, which will be limited to 900 pieces, made its debut in Geneva during the SIHH and GTE watch fairs.A perpetual calendar (“quantime perptuel” in French) displays the exact date along with the day, month, and often the moon-phase by automatically taking into account the variable length of the months and leap-year cycle. Creating such a calendar is one of watchmaking’s most difficult feats, since its movement must have a mechanical memory of 1,461 days, or four years. The mechanism is usually based on a differential gear system from the hour wheel and includes several hundred components, cogs, gears, levers and rockers. A small toothed planet wheel connected to the month's mechanism makes a complete rotation in four years. During

Finally decided to pull the trigger, right in time for Christmas. I was going to wait until next month to see what was being released in SIHH, guess I'm a compulsive buyer after all. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
My first Breitling for my 30th.....
Well, Looks like I'm part of the Breitling Club. Today's my 30th Birthday and My parent's got me a Breitling Cockpit. I actually picked it up a couple of weeks ago and planned on it being my present to myself, but they insisted they wanted to get me something nice for me being three decades old.....so I handed it over to them....gift wrapped and all I happen to really like the watch, it's comfortable, and not one of the huge abomination's that Breitling loves to put out.I'm not big on fancy pics, and I haven't been home long enough to play with the camera. So here's a shot of it with the cell.
If this was your trio, what would you add next?
If you owned these 3 watches, which watch would you add to the collection next? I'm debating between some sort of sporty dress watch on leather or a white DaytonaC. Open to other suggestions and recommendations as well.
