Unique Skeletonized Watches By Molnar Fabry: Hands-On And Workshop Visit
The skeletonization of high-end timepieces has long been a viable option for those watch collectors and enthusiasts who seek?a way to?appreciate mechanical movements more thoroughly than a sapphire case back or an "open-heart" dial allow. Michal Molnar and Igor Fabry of Molnar Fabry are two Slovakian certified jewelers who,?bitten by the "watch-bug"?and driven by a developed?passion for fine watches, have?specialized in creating unique, made-to-order timepieces comprised of beautifully and?heavily modified base movements from ETA, Unitas, and others. We were invited by the young duo to visit them at their workshop in Banska?Bystrica, a small town situated in the central?part of the country and?surrounded by the?beautiful Slovakian countryside.Igor Fabry and Michal Molnar in their workshop situated in Banska Bystrica, Slovakia.Skeletonization is the process of carefully removing?structurally non-important material from the?center of major movement parts, namely bridges, cocks, and plates
N.O.A Ghost Collection Watches
It sure has been a while since we heard from Swiss watch maker N.O.A. I've always liked their stuff, but a sad silence has emanated from the brand for a while. At least on our front door. Why? Well, perhaps it might have something to do with the economy and the less expensive brand called Tendence that basically ripped-off their core design making much cheaper quartz versions with their signature look.True enough, it is probably a bit hard lately to sell young-looking designer timepieces complete with high-quality dials, mechanical movements, and limited production numbers. Hmm$9,000 or $300? See how that goes with most people? Still, for us N.O.A is still cream of the crop when it comes to having bowl-shaped dials with raised numerals and fun colors. I've always really liked their stuff, but they make for a hard value proposition when you face looking like an over-funded teenager. As a side note I would have killed for a watch like this when I was a teenager.Which brings me to a sneak
Service Question
I bought an AP royal oak 15300 F series from one of the sellers on here and while the Watch was cosmetically in good shape, I took it to 2 different watchmakers and they confirmed the amplitude was running low. 190-230 and +10-15 seconds consistently at both AD's. I paid what I consider a premium for the Watch which is frustrating that I may now have to ship it off to Clearwater and throw and extra 1k into the watch. Was my fault seller didn't confirm service history only said it was running very well and I trusted him. My fear is it could have been never serviced but I don't know. Is it worth sending in now?
How Much can I get for a Navitimer 01?
Theres a package deal with 2 watches in it that was offered to me. I know what one of the watches is worth (a rolex) but the second watch in the set is a:Navitimer 01 46mm on a black leather strapFull set box and papers purchased from AD 11/16 Retail was 8,840?What I'm asking....Whats wholsale on something like this? I'm not sure if I want to keep it or Just keep the Rolex and sell the Navitimer. If that's the case, I want to know what range I will get for it.
Considering flipping some for a pretty big purchase.
I will say my DSSD is my least favorite watch but I order that watch in 2008 as a graduation present from grad school and I could never sell it. That said I have probably one the white five times since 2010 or 11 when I purchased a new subc. The Hulk is and amazing watch and I will buy another one much cellular then later I hope. But with the fact I have a deposit on a SD43 they watch funds are looking kind of slow I am right now so I suspect it will at least be a year. Though if I really fell in love the SD43 could be sold as well. . I also have my birth year SD, a SubC. My girlfriend does not understand why I have for watches that she considers the exact same but us true WISs totally understand. But I am going to consolidate after I get my new SD and narrowing it down to 4-5 watches so I'm going for something different. A PP 42mm Aquanaut blue face. Other choices are a AP 26400.SO not sure in TI/RG/SS and the YG SubC with the blue dial has been calling my name for years. I personally
