Van Cleef & Arpels Midnight Extraordinary Series Watches For 2010
One can always expect beautiful artistic watch creations from Van Cleef & Arpels each year at SIHH. Not that any of the watches are affordable to the lay person. For examples these models are all in platinum. They are highly primed for visual appreciation. Of the 2010's new collections from Van Cleef & Arpels is the Midnight Extraordinary Series. I don't know exactly how models there are. but here are three from the main California Landscapes collection, and two below from the Midnight Extraordinary Japanese Lacquer series.I am most interested in the California Landscapes series, likely because I live in California. It is true that not all the scenes are at night (in contrast tot he "midnight" part of the name), but each are interesting feats of talent. Instead of just enamel on dial paintings, the landscapes are done with some enamel work, but also a mosaic of jewels and stones. I have not the talent to indicate what stones have been used (that would be like being able to rese
Dietrich OT-1 Review
It's not too often we come across a watch that is really unlike anything we've seen before. Most designs play by at least some set of rules, and really wild things tend to be either very cheap or very expensive. Well, a few months ago I got the chance to meet Emmanuel Dietrich, founder of Dietrich Watches, and check out his designs, which were profoundly different. The watch had an odd shape, with crazy curves and geometry that spoke to a different idea about how watches should look and feel. The case alone really drew me in, with parts that veered greatly from the standard, and require very good manufacturing to pull off. The dial then had some wild things going on that simply pulled me in further. The concept behind the watches correspond to Dietrich's idea of organic design. Rather than drawing more from watches themselves or more man-made things (think automobiles and architecture) the design draws from nature. This isn't a new concept to design with people like Ross Lovegrove pract
Help with Vintage Seamaster from 1978
Hello Everyone,My father recently found his old Omega Seamaster Day Date that my mom bought for him from Gimbels in 1978. I do not know much about it except for the fact that it runs and he does not think it has ever been serviced. The condition is great and it seems to be original except for the strap which he might have had changed years ago. Is it worth it to get it serviced? He is not going to wear it but I love it, except for the fact that it is. Any suggestions on where to get it service? The other thing that throws me off is the watch is gold but the back is stainless. It is stamped 10K GFD Bezel Stainless Back. He even found the original Omega plastic box it came in. Let me know what the community thinks and Merry Christmas to all!

Coming in WHITE hot!
Hi interweb friends! I was lucky enough to pick up a SS Sky-Dweller this past weekend. It really is a beautiful piece and using the ring command to set it is such a pleasure to use. The watch oozes quality. The Batman is still my favourite GMT watch and will probably stay as my daily. Here are some pics of it and the rest of my collection.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
