HourTime Podcast Episode 3 - The Golden Hand
Episode three of the quickly evolving podcast how HourTime (starring myself and John Biggs) is now online. We discuss some winners of the watch industry version of the Oscars, the Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Geneve 2009. Winners included Richard Mille, Greubal Forsey, the Hublot Black Caviar $1 million watch, Audemars Piguet and A. Lange & Sohne. We also discuss the watch business - what groups own what brands, how well they are doing, and like that. Then, we say a few words about Panerai, and more about how accurate watch making was so protected and why - more fascinating military and historic talk, including how Swiss watches used to be junk, while the American watches were the best. More on that topic in the next show. We end by reminiscing about our first watches. This time we invite you to comment on HourTimeShowwatches-dealer, so listen to the show and then respond.Listen to HourTime episode 3 here.Download or stream directly here.

My first Breitling for my 30th.....
Well, Looks like I'm part of the Breitling Club. Today's my 30th Birthday and My parent's got me a Breitling Cockpit. I actually picked it up a couple of weeks ago and planned on it being my present to myself, but they insisted they wanted to get me something nice for me being three decades old.....so I handed it over to them....gift wrapped and all I happen to really like the watch, it's comfortable, and not one of the huge abomination's that Breitling loves to put out.I'm not big on fancy pics, and I haven't been home long enough to play with the camera. So here's a shot of it with the cell.
My Aqua Terra on a strap
Hey guys, just wanted to get your thoughts. I have an Omega Aqua Terra that I got as one of my wedding presents a couple years ago. I wore it quite a bit before I bought my Rolex but now it doesn't get much wrist time. As I have 4 watches and 3 of them are on a metal bracelet, I decided to pick up a strap for the Omega. Due to a lost shipment, I bought a second different strap. Well I have finally received the lost shipment (and reimbursed the seller for the strap). Which one do you guys like best (not planning on putting it back on a bracelet for a while):Medium Brown Ostrich look leather:Dark Brown Hirsch strap (not my picture - I ordered the same strap and it is in transit):
YMII timer engaged perpetually
Can someone with actual knowledge on the matter please shed some light on the affect or lack thereof having chrono (timer) on all the time... I love the hacking seconds hand look of any automatic watch but the red hand on the YMII is always fixed position unless (I know the subdial is the actual seconds hand however it is practically unnoticeable) the countdown timer is engaged and I don’t really care for it like that in static position.... you think it will damage or wear down the movement much sooner, also what happens to the mechanics of it once the countdown hits 0 from 10 and it if stays engaged..
