Baselworld 2015: 3 Things to Know About the Arnold & Son Constant Force Tourbillon (Updated with Live Photos)
At Baselworld 2015, Arnold & Son introduced the Arnold & Son Constant Force Tourbillon. From what we’ve seen, there are already signs that it will give watch enthusiasts more than a couple of things to talk about.Arnold & Son has been the center of many conversations over the last few years. It's a small brand that shares space and personnel with the movement maker Manufacture La Joux-Perret. But that manufacturing know-how has led to some impressive watches. The Constant Force Tourbillon looks to be another piece that will have people talking. So here's what you need to know in order to jump in the conversation.1. The watch adopts one solution to the problem of constant force.Constant force is a kind of grail for watchmakers: it's the dream of an escapement that keeps perfectly even time. It deals with a lasting problem that all mechanical watches face: if a watch is powered by the energy of a wound-up mainspring, how can you keep the release of that energy perfectly
watches-dealer Reader Joins Us For Watch Weekend In Los Angeles
Recently, watches-dealer reader Griffin C. from Chicago, Illinois, joined me here in Los Angeles for a few days of geeking-out watchnerd-style and to attend The World's Most Expensive Watches book party with us. This was a result of Griffin winning a giveaway prize early in the year that we had intended to experience with him over the summer. Unfortunately, despite our best efforts, the originally planned trip to the watch maker RGM in Pennsylvania was cancelled by RGM, and resulted in a dispute between the company and watches-dealer that the online watch community has discussed a few months ago. Nevertheless, despite the setbacks, I had an obligation to Griffin and wanted to make the most out of the situation.Griffin had never traveled to Los Angeles, and I thought it would be a good idea to bring him to town and give him a great watch experience with people he might not otherwise get to meet. I was fortunate to have him come join me during the right weekend at the Chateau Marmont for
deployant fit/placement problems?
for those who have the oem deployant on the speedy, does the curve fit perfectly on the round edge of ur wrist, or does the end of the enclosure end up digging in cuz the length doesn't quite line up?i briefly tried on a fake version awhile back, seem to recall the fit was not as flat and comfortable as i had hoped. ditched the idea and went with a double deployant.the double's placement is much better and doesn't dig into the wrist.... however it does add considerable more bulk between the strap and skin, far more than the omega deployant.wanted to hear of others' experiences, as I'm contemplating giving it another go...perhaps i was too hasty the first time around.
Mens NOS Omega Military Seamaster 300 Divers Watch 1970
New to the board and was hoping to get some feedback from some of you boardmembers who are omega fanatics......For sometime now I've seen these NOS Omega Seamaster watches posted on Ebay...I've done some various google searches on these watches and it seems that there is a company called Watchco in Australia which was a former distributor and authorized repair facility for Omega and they continue to make these watches out of NOS parts. I-ve posted a link to a current auction and have included a couple of pics also below.....I am a fan of vintage watches and the look of this watch with the stainless mesh bend is fantastic. I wanted to see if anyone on the board has one of these NOS watches and get your impression feedback and wrist pics. It would be especially interesting to see one of these side by side with a rolex sub or gmtcgi.ebay/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...=STRK:MEWAX:ITCHEERS!
