All The A. Lange & Sohne Lange 1 Watches
Since its birth in 1994, the A. Lange & Sohne Lange 1 watch has been the brand's most iconic watch. A real gamble at the time, it proved to be a very successful design. You can also thank it for the "big date" complication - that they refer to as an "outsized date." Here is a nice picture from A. Lange & Sohne with the complete family of all the Lange 1 watches to-date. I thought it was a nice way to reflect on the collection. Below you will find a cool spec chart that discusses each of the models and when they were released. Click on the images (above and below) to make them larger.
U-Boat U-1942 Limited Edition Watch: Giant Retro Italian Diver
Apparently based on a never actually made design from 1942, the limited edition U-Boat U-1942 watch is an Italian blast from the past. The story goes that the Italian Navy commissioned a special watch to be made, but it never made production. This U-1942 watch is based directly on that design - and it is really sharp looking. The oddest part of the watch is of course the crown. It extends out.. maybe too far.? It is kind of silly and phallic to be honest. I mean it works, and looks cool, but you know.Lets just say that it looks like a periscope...yea that's it. The crown is meant to have a functional use though. The idea is that it is meant to be easy to use with gloves. Easy to use meaning winding it and adjusting it. Not sure how easy it will be to release the crown while in the locked position with gloves though, but probably pretty simple. Further, I believe that the crown can be adjusted and wound underwaterwhich should be nice. The watch is big! Really big with a grade 5 titanium
Just tried on the AP ROO Safari
Finally found one in the flesh, though the AD said it might be the last one he gets with the cream face, new ones will have the brown dial. Looks massive to me compared to my SS DaytonaC, but I kind of like the contrast in styles and colors. Thoughts on maybe flipping the Daytona for a BLNR for everyday use and then grabbing the AP?IMG_0851.jpgIMG_0854.jpgSent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
To love or not to love
I was never seriously considering the 5905P until I tried one on a few weeks ago. Quite a piece, what a dial, a bit hefty but so nice. Should I pull the trigger ? Wristshots of owners welcomed.
My dad was given a Patek...
He used to collect Rolexes, and is beginning to get back into it, which is cool. His wife gave him a Patek Phillipe and I am not sure what model it is...it has a few complications on the front and if you turn the watch over theres a lunar star chart moving thing on the back. Any clue what model that might be? its rose gold. Also, do Pateks tick or sweep like a rolex?thanks.
