Complicated All-Wood Watches By Valerii Danevych
Ukrainian Valerii Danevych makes wood watches with actual wooden movements. "It's a functional work of art." ?This is a phrase that can sometimes be thrown around with reckless abandon - especially when it comes to our beloved watches. ?To be sure, mechanical watches - regardless of their vintage - are engineering marvels, given that they give us a miniature machine that tracks the passage of the day. ?We've recently caught wind of some mechanical watch designs that are very worthy of being called works of art - and functional ones at that.First things first - yes, these are truly made of wood. ?But make no mistake - these are quite different from other wooden watches that have hit the market from companies like WeWood?, Sprout?, or assorted Kickstarter projects.? Those other makes feature wooden cases (and sometimes bracelets), but the movement working away inside is the very familiar (and very non-wooden) quartz-driven type. ?For these watches from Valerii Danevych, every single piec

ROO Date Indicator & Driving Wheel Replaced
Hey Folks,So a while back I start a thread asking about my some issues i was having with my watch.here...ROO Date wheel stuck & watch running slowBasic gist of it was that I had a one time incident where the date wheel got stuck at midnight for an hour, generally speaking both winding and tightening the crown seemed really rough almost like it was grinding, and last (and least of the issues) the accuracy was a bit all over the place.Anyway, just wanted to update you all that after I visit the NYC Boutique and handled a few other ROOs, I realized mine definitely didn't feel and operate the same way. So, I decided to send my watch in to APSC about 2 weeks ago. I'm quite happy to say it's scheduled to be back on the wrist in about a week, but I'm actually surprised to say the had to replace the Date Indicator and the Date Driving Wheel! They also had to Lubricate some component parts. It's a little bittersweet. Of course it's discouraging to send off a brand new watch only 4 weeks af
Definition of a Grail watch?
This is probably obvious but honestly I feel like everyone's definition of grail watch is so different that sometimes it confuses me. Originally I thought grail watch is a watch that's just too expensive but then unless we are talking about those watches over say a million dollars and that are super limited in who can even buy them, most watches (especially those people sometimes call grail) are technically affordable as they are typically cheaper than a car or in the more extreme cases a house. They may not be something you want to spend the money on, but that's a choice. The other definition I was guessing was that it's a watch that one watch to rule them all in that once you get the grail watch, you are set for that watch for the rest of your life? If that's the case, then no one would be flipping grail watches. So what's your definition of a grail watch? What makes it your grail?
Am I becoming a bracelet man???
So I’ve always preferred leather straps and NATO / ZULU straps over bracelets... Just never really liked bracelets... All my non-Rolex / Tudor watches I’ve bought on leather. Only one that came with a bracelet was the Kobold, but that has been on NATOS / leather since ~2009. Then enter the BLNR... Had it on the PCL for a year but never really felt comfortable for me. Then bought the SubC... Immediately swapped the glide lock to the BLNR and on a NATO the SubC went just like all my other watches. BBN on NATO, Tudor Sub on NATO (no choice as I bought that head only). So the collection lived on like this for a couple years... And I’ve stood strong by my choice... Say no to bracelets... Then I had to go and buy an Explorer... Was going to buy a Rubber B for it but figured I’d give it a minute. Then I went completely out of line and got a white dial DaytonaC. All the pictures I’ve seen the bracelet looks best (again potentially a Rubber B or Oysterflex).
