Speedmaster Date 3513.50 Question about Service
Watch is about 15 years old - this will be its 3rd service (last 2 were through Omega in Beverly Hills and it has been 5 years since the last one). It was losing about 20 seconds/day, so definitely due for service. Omega website says $675 for basic service. The list below is quoted by Hyde Park (Denver) at $760. Is there more on this list than would normally be required? Polishing is another $150. Any concerns about Hyde Park? I am not sure if I will polish or not.Service quote:Includes the disassembly, cleaning, adjustment and replacement of worn internal components.Includes all gaskets and case adjustments necessary to ensure the water resistance of the timepiece.Includes mainspring, barrel and arborIncludes dial repair (center and align)Includes hands repair (tighten and align)Includes stem replacement Includes case repair Includes push button repair Includes riveting 8 weeks from the date of approval is required for this process. 3940 vs. 5140
Mates I'm in the mood for a perpetual and can't decide between these two in either WG or Platinum. Anyone that owns both or has tried both on ? I've tried on the 5140P blue dial and G white dial and found the dial small and the details difficult to read. Never tried the 3940 but told the dial is easier to read despite a 1mm size difference. Opinions would be helpful here please.
Sell the GMTIIc for an Aquanaut 5167?
Dear all,I've got a nice little collection consisting of:- Breitling Intruder (quartz) - my first Swiss watch which gets thoroughly abused without any worries what so ever. Never missed a beat.- Rolex GMTIIc - my daily wearer that I swim in, take on holiday to the beach, in the shower sometimes, etc. My thought was Rolex can always polish it to near perfection during service, so I should give it plenty of wrist time and not worry about the scratches etc.- Patek 5146G - This is my pride and joy which gets a lot of wrist time during office hours, fancy dinners, and any other time I know it'll live a stress-free life!I got the GMT when it first came out so it's probably due for a service. Dangerously, this has gotten me thinking that another Patek might be in order, and I may have to waive good bye to the GMT (has to be worth what I paid for it or more?). The reasons being:- I'm kind of over the Rolex thing. As much as I think they're great watches, they're a little too flashy for my tast
Next Patek
Good Day All,I am thinking of just getting one watch next year (saving up for a bit first), I am thinking of getting something real niceI am looking at a Nautilus this time, I am going to stay with SS as I am not really into gold;1. 5711 (clasic thin)2. 5712 (Mini rotor, moon phase)3. 5726 (Annual Calendar)4. 5980 (Chronogragh) - I really like this oneTake care,Eric
Crown winding of Tudor Black Bay SG
Hi FriendsI just got the Tudor Black Bay SG. Unlike my Rolex DJ2 (whose crown stops winding after about 70 or 80 winds- meaning that the watch is fully wound), the crown of the Tudor keeps on winding. I must have wound the watch in a clockwise direction for about 200 winds at one go but the crown keeps on winding. There is only a minor clicking noise during winding but the crown doesn't stop. Is it normal for the Tudor or is there something wrong with the watch? Maybe I am being OCD about the whole thing. Any input from the highly knowledgeable people on this forum shall be highly appreciated.
