VIDEO: The HODINKEE 2015 Year In Review
Well, it’s that time of year again – when we collectively sit back and reflect on all that has transpired over the last 12 months. So to help you remember the year in watches, we put together our annual video highlight reel, just as we did in 2013 and 2014. This is the year we sat down with mega-collector Jason Singer for an episode of Talking Watches, traveled to Japan to visit Seiko, followed each step in the making of F.P. Journe’s most complicated watch, gave the Omega Speedmaster the Reference Points treatment – and much, much more.In addition to the video above, each full-length episode can be found below. So, in no particular order, please sit back and enjoy the HODINKEE video highlights of 2015. On The Dash Publishes A Comprehensive Collector's Guide To The Heuer Autavia, Which Is, Needless
I've said it before and I'll say it again, Jeff Stein and his OnTheDash is something really special in the vintage Heuer community. It is, without a doubt, the thought-leader in the space, full of honest (rare in the watch world) assessments and analysis of the ever growing culture of vintage Heuer chronographs. Today, Mr. Stein has published a fascinating look at the Autavia, in all its incarnations, with glances at differentiating specific models, which are most collectible and why, famous wearers of the Autavia, and pricing trends. Even if you have just a passing interest in the original Heuer racer's watch, this is worth a read.Check out Jeff Stein's collector's guide to the Heuer Autavia here.
Planet Ocean Arrived
My Planet Ocean Chrono 9300 arrived today. I got the black bezel with the orange numeral 12. My only thought in wearing the watch is that the orange numeral is basically hidden with the chrono second hand in the 12:00 position. A small part of me wishes there was more visible color in the watch. Maybe i might have enjoyed the 8500 more? All of Omega's photos of the Chrono do not show the second hand at 12:00 so I never thought of this issue until today. Do any of you guys just set the chrono seconds hand in a different position just for the purpose of viewing the orange 12?
372 under cover
It under cuff. Who said the 372 does not fit under the cuff? Do you wear it to the office, too?ImageUploadedByTapatalk1387437213.520343.jpgSent with iPhone using Tapatalk
Dec. 9th Rolex or bust
So my Girlfriend and i are planning to take a trip to NYC on the 9th.She wants to take me to see the Tree (i have never gone before) and this trip times up perfectly with my time to buy my Sub.We plan on going to the diamond dist. before the tree and looking at a few stores.I have been waiting for a years to do this and to be honest i'm pretty nervous because i don't want to come home empty handed.I kinda feel like after hitting all the big stores at WTC and 5th ave if i cant find my Sub i might just say screw it and pick out something else.what do you think my chances are of finding a sub nodate in the city this close to Christmas?
