Watches NEWS
Hands-On: A Couple Of Predictions From The Upcoming Only Watch 2015 Benefit Auction C And What Might
Only Watch happens once every two years (usually in Monaco, but this year, in Geneva for the first time) as you probably know if you're a HODINKEE reader. You probably also know that the purpose of the auction is to benefit research into better treatments – and perhaps, someday, even a cure – for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, an inherited, progressive, and usually ultmately terminal illness in which a defect in a key muscle structural protein (dystrophin) causes slow but irreversible loss of muscle tissue. The benefit auction is organized by the Association Monégasque contre les Myopathies ("myopathy" is a general term for muscle tissue disorders) the Monaco Yacht Show, and an auction house which takes responsibility for curating and auctioning a collection of unique pieces made by the world's top watchmaking companies specifically for that purpose. AP price rise - did it actually happen
I was under the impression that the price rise was due 2nd jan, but looking at online ADs here in the UK (watch gallery) it doesn't seem to have happened...can anyone confirm if any ADs have bumped the price up?
Navitimer?
So is the Navitimer a watch designed for navigation, or is it a watch designed for Navy servicemen? The watch is quite often found with a 'navy' blue dial but I don't know what it is like as far as water resistant properties are concerned?
2 weeks, 6000 dollars
Paid a deposit for the 5712 back in September, I was told the watch will arrive in spring. Today got the email that it is here and I can pick it up anytime. So far fantastic news, the only sour point is that it is only 2 weeks after the price increase. The difference is about 6k but it feels bad as I think that patek was holding the watch until the increase is in effect. I will not miss the opportunity and will buy the watch as it is my absolute favorite. Will post some photos as soon as I get my hands on it.
Incoming......
Unfortunately no brown box. But I'm ok with that. SWAG!
