News, Photos, and Video: F.P. Journe Unveils Chronomtre Optimum
Even though he has created many very complicated watches, French watchmaker Francois-Paul Journe has always been interested in accuracy above all. His newest timepiece, the Chronomtre Optimum, which made its debut last week at the F.P. Journe boutique in New York City, takes the quest for timekeeping precision to a new level. The Chronomtre Optimum, which Journe calls the “masterpiece” of his eponymous brand’s Souveraine collection, incorporates in its manufacture movement all of the technologies that Journe has developed which have previously debuted in other Souveraine watches to ensure ideal timekeeping precision and stability. The new watch includes a double barrel with two springs, in a parallel arrangement that helps to reduce friction by eliminating the lateral pressure on the wheel. It also incorporates Journe’s patented, constant-force remontoire device, here made of titanium for the first time, which balances the driving force applied to the escape

Personally, I think that Panerai, should be maintained until a few models and variations. Before I fileront too long and too designate of the right way to Rolex ol ' produce variations, I return to the meeting. One other thing I noticed, is that there is that small interest in the movement itself.
Speedmaster Crystal Replacement
Looking for my first Speedmaster, and my thinking is getting a 1978 145.022-78. (It's my birth year). However I have found one that looks to be in decent shape (for the age) but it has had the crystal replaced by Omega to a new Hesalite Crystal. To my limited knowledge, this seems to take away from the vintage nature of the piece, but then again... I am told it is very common for watches of this era to have the crystal replacement. Can anyone tell me whether this is the norm for vintage Speedmasters and/or what that does to the perceived value. I don't intend to resell, but I just want to make sure I'm not sabotaging the vintage aspect of my first Speedmaster
5711 vs multiple Rolex
Hi guys Background story is my 60th birthday is coming up later this year and I am on my local AD's list for nearly 2 years now in preparation .My AD has assured me the next 5711 in is mine if I want it . The recent price increase has made me think again . Its now very expensive for a stainless steel date only watch. It was never cheap, but for that kind of money I could add some wonderful Rolex's and diversity to my collection.what would you guys do btw I have never actually seen or tired on a 5711 .
uh oh what have I done...
Couldnt resist.. 422.will post better pics when get home
