Speedmaster in Oslo...
Just got back from a cruise of Northern Europe and the Baltic Sea. Upon going through my pics, I almost forgot I had taken a pic of the time as we were pulling into Oslo, Norway... at 7:40am. What a beautiful city.
My Patek/Rolex sandwich trio...
Hi guys hope you are all having a great week. Just thought id share few shots of my Patek duo (5131R & 5712/1A Tiffany dial) with my vintage Rolex Daytona 6263 between them..Wish everyone a great weekend..
Am I stupid to trade my Patek 5120G for two Rolex?
I have a 2002 - near mint condition Patek 5120G that I literally never wear. I've changed career path's and just don't have the need for a dress watch. I currently wear a 16610 on a daily basis. I'm somewhat practical and not a collector so my thought was why not trade the Patek for 2 Rolex's? I'm looking for blunt feedback - am I stupid for wanting to do this? I have one child (a girl) and I'm not looking to hold onto the Patek forever. My reasoning is I would rather have 3 nice daily watches to wear rather than just one. I was thinking of going the Datejust and Explorer II Polar route? The next step is to find someone who would be willing to do the trade. I have the Cert of Origin, books and papers. I'm guessing trade value is around $13-14K? Thoughts?
5565a - Thoughts (part two)
Ok - so I also came across this 5565a. Again the first I have seen of this watch. And I have to say I like it. A lot. Apparently it was a special edition to commemorate the reopening of the Geneva salon. It's 36mm which isn't overly small in my opinion. The dial is simple yet elegant with a sporty flair. I have not heard it mentioned on this site. So again - what does TRF think?
It might be time for an explorer.
So here's the question. I am finally thinking of adding a nice explorer to the collection. I have always wanted to add one, but something else always caught my eye. Of course, my AD has two ready for me. For the TRF crowd, which one?
