Comco Opens New Swatch Group Investigation
The Swiss Competition Commission (Comco) has announced that it is opening an investigation against Swatch Group arising out of the Group’s plan to stop supplying mechanical watch movements and components to third parties. Comco said yesterday that the purpose of the investigation is to determine whether Swatch Group’s decision is an abuse of its dominant market position and so a violation of the cartel law. In a press statement, Swatch Group said that it initiated the Comco investigation itself in an effort to find a mutually agreeable solution to allow the Group to reduce its deliveries to third parties, which Swatch Group says is in the interest of the entire watch industry. The parties have agreed that Swatch Group will be allowed to decrease deliveries next year.In September 2009, WatchTime reported that Comco had opened an investigation into ETA’s business practices, and in December of that year, then-CEO Nicolas G. Hayek Sr. stated in an interview We no longer i
SIHH Preview: Jaeger-LeCoultre Grande Reverso Ultra Thin
The idea for the Reverso was born in India in 1931, in response to English polo players’ need for an unbreakable watch. The reversible case allowed an elegant timepiece to survive rugged matches, and enabled the owner to personalize it by engraving his initials, family crest, or a few inspiring words on the dial-protecting shield. After 80 iconic years, this new Grande Reverso Ultra Thin embraces classicism in the form of simplicity. At just 2.94mm thick, the diminutive Jaeger-LeCoultre Calibre 822 enables the manufacture’s design engineers to create a Reverso slimmer than ever before. While the case with its generous proportions asserts a strong presence on the wrist, its slenderness and subtly curved shape make it both light and comfortable to wear. The strength of the Reverso design is reflected by the fact that it has been reinterpreted many times over the years, even taking on square proportions, yet in each incarnation, the fundamental aesthetic shines through. Goldilocks and the 15400
I'm assuming there's not much to be done here but...When I remove three links it's too tight...When I remove two links it's way too loose...When I substitute a link with a 1.5 link it's still too loose...I must fit exactly between a half-link and a full link. Due to no micro-adjustment I'm struggling to get a really comfortable fit. Anything I'm missing here?Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Omega Service.
Hi, question for you guys, I got my estimate from Omega today for service on my 2592.54 SMP. Its only 7 years old. They(Swatch Group) want 896.00 for full service on this watch. This includes new crown, new hands, new gaskets, overhaul the 3301 movement and polish the few scratches off the case and bracelet. The hands in my opinion were fine, Finks told me the lume was starting to peel and were afraid pieces would get into the movement. Original dial to remain. Is this a fair estimate or am I getting hosed? Granted its a genuine overhaul but jeeez!!! If I knew where else I could send it I might tell Omega to send it back. Any help appreciated and thanks in advance. AL
