Found: The Jaeger-LeCoultre Geophysic Worn By Captain William Anderson On The USS Nautilus
Earlier this week, we stopped off in Le Sentier, Switzerland, to visit the Manufacture Jaeger-LeCoultre. We were there to see something brand new – something they we will be thrilled to report on in the coming months. But, like most great products, what is new is usually based in something old, and what we saw as lovers of JLC's Geophysic line of watches was downright awesome. As you may remember, the very first Geophysic was designed to be the utmost in chronometric performance and durability, and one example was gifted to a Captain William R. Anderson, who piloted the USS Nautilus – the first atomic submarine – to the North Pole in 1958. On The Block: Four Timepieces Possibly Owned By President Truman
On Saturday, November 8, Heritage Auctions is selling four timepieces possibly owned by President Harry S. Truman: an engraved Movado religious coin watch, a Baylor presented to President Truman in Texas, a gold-plated Vulcain Cricket, and a steel Longines. While we can say with confidence that the Movado and Baylor were Truman's, I don't believe we can be certain on the other two. Why?Back in February, Doyle New York auctioned some jewelry from the estate of Margaret Truman Daniel, the only child of President Harry S. Truman and First Lady Bess Truman. The items in the sale seemed to stay under-the-radar and someone cleaned up and got a great deal on a number of lots. Availibility of SS Sports Models in Bay Area
Hi Guys,I visited a few AD's in the Bay Area and all seem to have the black date submariner in stock amongst some other SS models like the GMT. I thought the black submariner with date would be a hard to get item but that doesn't seem like the case, specially in the Bay area...however the batman, hulk, daytona c are not available.I am looking for the black submariner with date...should I buy it from AD if its available? Can you guys please shed some light on this..Thanks!!
