A Week On The Wrist: Hamilton Khaki Pioneer Pilot Automatic Chronograph
Hamilton introduced the Khaki Pioneer Pilot at Basel earlier this year as an homage to the brand's notable history in aviation watches. This is a history that dates back nearly a hundred years, beginning with a Hamilton aeronautical watch accompanying the first American Airmail flight between Washington and New York. By the 30s, Hamilton was the official watch of commercial airlines including TWA, United, and Northwest. This laid the groundwork for military issue timepieces in WWII the second half of the twentieth century, which is the era that provides inspiration for the Khaki Pioneer Pilot we see today. The early 70s is a period we've seen Hamilton draw contemporary parallels before, such as the popular Pan Europe of 2011 . Another iconic 70s watch from the brand, a dual register chronograph rocking a Valjoux 7733, was built for the RAF. This is the watch that provides direct lineage to the Khaki Pioneer Pilot, which retains nearly all the charm of the original. I spent a wee
Ap 15400
How's it going everyone I am thinking about trading my ceramic sub no date and my explorer ii 42mm polar white for a royal oak gray dial. I went to the boutique in NYC and tried them on. I fell in love with the gray dial. I am just a little apprehensive being that I will be wearing this watch as a daily. Can someone give me some insight on the on the movement is it rigid enough for everyday use? Will it be able to take a little bit of a beating? Thank you in advance
15202OR vs 5712ST
Hi guys,Need some help deciding which to get.I've probably read every single thread about these 2 watches and debated the AP 15202 in Rose Gold vs the PP 5712 in Stainless Steel in my head for over a week and still cant make up my mind.Obviously the best solution would be to get both, but thats probably not gonna happen. I'm aware that there is a difference of a few thousand dollars, but lets not price be an issue here.Which one would you get and why? Which one is harder to get / more exclusive? Any 15202OR owner experiences? I'm worried its gonna be too flashy. Your opinions are greatly appreciated! Thanks!!Ed
5196..too big
Had a chance to try on a 5196 at boutique today.Case was flat with lugs not adapting to wrist well..leaving gaps wide opened. Looks and feels like a 40mm watch..which is dreadful for a dress watch.Dial lacks contrast and very difficult to read. Too much empty spaces on dial as well.Really wanna love this but gotta past. :(Ymmv
Pictures: Visit to the PP factory
I was lucky enough to visit the Patek Philippe factory and managed to get hold of some pictures that were taken during the visit.
