Monochrome Monday: Introducing The Audemars Piguet Millenary Quadriennium
Audemars Piguet has improved the annual calendar so that it almost becomes a perpetual calendar. That might sound strange, but we'll explain. This new calendar is function makes its debut in the?Audemars Piguet Millenary Quadriennium. (The name is Latin for a quadrennium, which?is a four-year period.) The watch also features the famous AP escapement, making for an altogether interesting timepiece. The Audemars Piguet Millenary has always been a rather oddly shaped timepiece, often chosen by collectors who are drawn to the elegant, oval case, with its beautiful, alternating satin-brushed and polished finishing and stepped lugs. Millenary watches always features an off-center dial, which was probably most notable on the magnificent Millenary Star Wheel that we reviewed extensively on Monochrome Watches. The new Audemars Piguet Millenary Quadriennium has a large off-center dial for the hours, minutes, date, month and day of the week, along with a small subdial for the running seconds.
What I chose and why?
Hi Guys and thanks to many of you for expressing your opinions on my last post Tudor or OmegaIt really helped and having had the Tudor HC delivered I decided to send it back in favour of the Planet Ocean. Why?I found the Tudor a little bland, the dial albeit it cool looking wasn't anything special, the weight and feel of the watch seemed a little light and didn't seem to be as sturdy as a lot of the watches I have owned. In summary I liked the watch a lot but it didn't scream you must keep me.thc.jpgI have had a few planet oceans slip through my fingers over the years and really do like them but in the past have always swapped them for a Submariner when I had extra cash. one variation I had not had was the 42mm ceramic version, so I pulled the trigger on that one and am very happy with the watch. (lets see how long it takes to uprgade to a sub )po.jpg
Apple Watch with a Rolex? Also how many of you have purchased an Apple Watch?
Those of you that know me on the forum know my passion for Mechanical watches. I had a side business selling watches a few years back and I have owned everything from the green submariner to the day-date 2 with multiple sky's. My collection has been very large at times. Last summer I was training for my first marathon and I picked up an Apple Watch. I became somewhat addicted to the damn thing. After my marathon I purchased the cellular version and it became more addicting. How many of you own one? What are your thoughts? Also, I'm thinking of just wearing it on my right with a mechanical on the left. I not a big fan of the look. I wish they made a bracelet version. What are your thoughts?
2004 Green Rolex Sub
While browsing through the inventory of a online watch store, and I noticed a Rolex Sub (green bezel) for sale. The watch is a complete set with every single thing that came with the watch the day it was bought at a AD in Washington State. The watch looks to be unworn and is beautiful. The asking price is 23,950 bucks. Am I missing something? What makes this watch worth 23,950? I also saw a unpolished GMT 2 pepsi .... complete set, and it was listed at 19,000. Again, I'm probably missing something, so can someone please help me to understand why these watches are so expensive?
