Christophe Claret Margot: His First Watch For Women That They Will Love/Love Not
The Margot is Christophe Claret's first watch ever intended for women, and we have to admit that it is rather imaginative. The maker of extremely high-end complicated men's watches wanted to create something unique for females, so he made a watch with a poetic complication very similar in theme to what a brand like Van Cleef & Arpels would create. Though I had to say that only an independent watchmaker such as Christophe Claret would have the mind and motivation to take a concept such as this so far. The complication in the Margot watch is a simple game of chance, and the irony is that by mere having the watch in her possession, the owner knows the answer to its question already.UPDATE: watches-dealer Hands-on with the Christophe Claret Margot watch here. For the Margot timepiece Christophe Claret has finally mechanized the romantic question of "he loves me?" asked to a daisy flower. Patek 5960/1A discontinued
It appears both models are discontinued, which apparently means the black dial was an extremely short run.I always liked the white model and was even more impressed with the black one when they announced it last year, but never pulled the trigger because the white dial looses a lot of value once it leaves the store and I'm not a fan of the bracelet (although I've seen beautiful pictures of the watch with a strap). Now that they are discontinued I wonder if the black dial will better retain its value. My AD has one in stock and I'm seriously considering it. What sort of discount (if any) should one expect to obtain on this model? Thanks
Patek Philippe is a dish best served cold
Many years ago, my wife and I were touring some out of town friends around NYC. We went into the Tiffany store (which I'd never have done) and ended up at the Patek Philippe boutique (really more of a museum) on the second floor. Among all the elaborate beauties, I was struck by a very simple white gold 5196. My wife encouraged me to try it on, and we had a nice long conversation with the sales associate, who after all was said and done, wrote down the particulars on Tiffany card. Our friends thought we were nuts for even talking about such a purchase, and i found it slightly embarrassing. My wife made a big point of taking the card and folding it once in half, and putting it in her purse. She said very confidently, I love that watch, it's much more elegant than the big chunky ones you usually wear (ouch). You shouldn't have it now, but I'll buy it for you for your 40th birthday. Then we went to dinner and I mostly forgot all about it for years and years (although who can ever really
