6B Watches And The 6645 MK1 Limited Pilot's Chronograph
There are many ways that a watchnerd may come to know about the UK-based watch strap brand GasGasBones. Founded on the goal of reproducing NASA's design for a velcro strap to suit the Omega Speedmaster, GasGasBones have been making custom nylon and velcro straps for many years. If you didn't come to know about GGB after hunting for a perfect Apollo-style strap for your Speedmaster, then perhaps you bought an early Bremont MBII, which included a GasGasBones handmade strap as its secondary mounting option until late 2011.More recently, GasGasBones has been supplying the straps (and watch roll) included with the current range of Meridian watches, also a small UK watch brand. As a one man operation, GasGasBones is the product of Carl Evans' passion for bespoke straps, military watches and doing things his own way.GasGasBones is Evans' full time gig and he produces each strap and a variety of watch-related accessories by hand from his workshop in Surrey, England. Amazingly, and more to the
Interview With Watch Lover Om Malik Of GigaOM On Smartwatches And The Samsung Galaxy Gear
With the announcement of the new Samsung Galaxy Gear, we had a chance to talk a little bit with Om Malik, founder of GigaOm. Om is an accomplished (and award-winning) journalist, with much of his work focused on the tech industry. What many may not know is that he's also a watch guy and friend of watches-dealer, which makes him the perfect person to talk to about smartwatches. Let's see what Om has to say about the smartwatch segment in general, and more specifically the Samsung Galaxy Gear:watches-dealer (ABTW): Given your background and interests, you've spent time around the smartwatch segment - how do you feel the category is shaping up?Om Malik (OM): I think we are still in the early innings here. Despite all the hype and noise around it, none of the companies have come up with a killer, mass market product. Most of my friends in Silicon Valley are obsessed with them, mostly because they are alpha/super early adopters.ABTW: What do you feel are the biggest strengths and weaknesses
Has anyone ever contacted Francois Bennahmias?
Does anyone happen to have the email address for AP CEO Francois Bennahmias? I'm not selling anything. I would just like to write him an email about the AP watches I own. Steve Jobs and Bill Gates always read their own email. I'm hoping that Mr. Bennahmias does as well.
Issue with my Seamaster
I purchased a Seamaster Chrono (2225.80) back in May. Over the last month I noticed that it only holds power for 8-10 hours. So basically I take it off my wrist at night and by mid morning, it's dead. This is pretty ridiculous as my Rolex can last for 2-3 days and when I bought the seas master, it was not this bad. I e-mailed Omega so I am going to see what they say. I have never damaged the watch...the movement/internals...the bezel I had replaced due to damage.Anyone have any ideas or thoughts.
YG PP Sighting
One of my customers was wearing this the other day. I have got to say, this watch was just beautiful in person. I snuck this picture when he was chatting with someone else. I would have asked for a better shot, but this guy is way old school and I did not want to potentially offend him. Probably no big deal to you whales over here in the deep end of the ocean, but I was blown away and figured I would share.
