Celebrating The 100th Anniversary Of The First Chronometer Certified Wristwatch By Rolex
As proudly stated on their dials, all Rolex timepieces manufactured today are?certified chronometers, meaning that every single one of them has been?rigorously tested for?timekeeping accuracy. With that in mind, we could C and perhaps we do C take the accuracy of a Rolex watch for granted, so now let's take a look back in time and discover how Rolex have created?the first chronometer certificate wristwatch ever, tested and awarded?by the incredibly demanding Kew Observatory exactly 100?years ago. Those intrigued by the provenly superior accuracy of timepieces will surely?be familiar with COSC (Contr?le Officiel Suisse des Chronomtres), the official Swiss chronometer testing institute that has been issuing certificates since 1973. The history of chronometer certification goes back hundreds of years however,?as these?clocks and pocket watches?of exceptional quality and timekeeping performance?actually served as navigation instruments?on the decks of ships sailing across the seas. First Omega - Seamaster 1948 Co Axial "London 2012" Limited Edition
Hi allJust picked this up today This has solely been bought for collection/investment purposes; it was bought for 2 main reasons:1. I liked it (this was the most important reason) and would happily wear it.2. I believe its value will increase significantly in 10-20 years given 1,948 were only made and is linked to the London Olympics. Here are some pics courtesy of Omega.
which 5726 AC
so i've seriously been infected with the PP virus and would like to acquire a 5726 to complement my recently acquired 5711 blue. the only question remains is which version of the 5726 to get! would really appreciate some arguments for any of those options... the following is what i'm thinking... 1. grey dial on strap. it would be quite different from 5711 because it's on a strap and i don't own any other strap watches. like the dial color as well. strap may give it a different feel. 2. grey dial on bracelet. my favorite of the 3 independent of all other considerations, but afraid it may be too close to the 5711 as they're both dark dial with bracelet.3. white dial on bracelet. very different from the 5711 and has a super clean feel to it. definitely would fulfill a more sporty role than the 5711.
