A Dangerous Game: Americas Cup Sailing In Bermuda With Bremont
“Somehow I’ve got to talk Giles and Nick into letting me do an ejection so I can get the watch.” Jimmy Spithill, the superstar Aussie skipper of Oracle Team USA, is sitting across from me all tanned and muscled, clutching an omnipresent can of Red Bull. “After winning the Cup, I want to do an ejection,” Spithill says with as much conviction and seriousness as he does when discussing how to win his second America’s Cup for Larry Ellison’s no-holds barred team. Of course, the watch he’s talking about is Bremont’s MBI, the pilot’s watch available for purchase only by “ejectees,” those who have escaped a doomed aircraft using a Martin-Baker ejection seat. 1 OF 15 Oracle Team USA skipper Jimmy Spithill Turns out, Spithill’s dream may not be far fetched. The guy’s an accomplished pilot, a skill he picked up in order to learn the nuances of how wings meet air, sailing in three dimensions. Th
Hublot ice bang for Omega dsotm?
Hi all I am in the midst of choosing my next watch. Been looking at all sorts. Was originally looking at a couple of rolexes (and may still do). However I tried on a dsotm and thought it was pretty cool. Have the opportunity to flip my hublot ice bang for the omega plus small money on top. Thoughts.?Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Speedmaster "Chocolate" 311.30 with sapphire crystal
Hi all,I always wanted a Speedmaster because of the amazing history of the watch. I know quite a bit about the older Speedys with the hesalite Chrystals. But the newer one with the Sapphire crystals I didn't read that much about. Now there is one for sale locally for around $3000. It has all the papers etc. It looks to be in very nice shape. Do you think that is an ok deal?Do those Chocolate Speedys have a different movement as the regular ones because of the see-through-back?What else was changed in the newer Speedys with sapphire crystal?I was always very reluctant to get a Speedmaster because of the Hesalite Crystal. All the watches I have with plastic crystals scratch like crazy, so sapphire would interest me a lot.If you have a Chocolate Speedy, how do you like it?ThanksHerbert
Pronouncing Omega.
I always thought Omega was pronounced the same way as the Greek letter- O-May-Gah. However, watching Casino Royale last night, Bond pronounces it O-Mee-Gah.Which is right? Is it a difference between British and American English?
Guidance on a pre-owned Aquanaut
Have the opportunity to acquire a 2011 Aquanaut, model 5167 18-001, the so called jumbo. Pic below, not mine but I believe this photo is the model. Tried it on at AD, great condition, watch has had a Patek servicing, comes with original owner papers, highly reputable dealer in NJ, so I'm confident in the transaction. Price is just under $15k. Good deal?
