10 Interesting Facts About Marc Newson's Watch Design Work At Ikepod
Whether or not Apple decides to release an iWatch, iTime, iWhateversmartwatch in a few hours or a few months (UPDATE: They did. See the Apple Watch here), we know that the accomplished Australian industrial designer Marc Newson will more than likely be a big part of the design process of this upcoming and highly anticipated wearable computing device. A few days ago, I discussed the implications and virtues of Apple's decision to have Marc Newson join Jony Ive in designing products at the company. You cannot discuss Marc Newson and watches without talking at length about Ikepod.Ikepod is a luxury watch brand and it is technically still around, but it really isn't a big deal any longer - at least not like it was in the late 1990s and early 2000s. What happened? In addition to filing for bankruptcy in about 2003 and later being purchased by new investors, Marc Newson and Ikepod parted ways back in 2012.Even though the company has had its ups and downs from the start, the biggest asset of
Royal Oak vs Daytona
Hi everybody, I need advice on choosing between the Royal Oak 15400ST and the Daytona 116520. This will be my first watch and I am hoping to be wearing it daily. I just graduated from university and this watch will be important to me. I will not be selling it in the future. The prices for both watches seem quite close so I have having a hard time deciding. I really like the design of the Daytona and have dreamed of owning this watch for a long time. The Daytona seems to be more durable as a daily wearer. However, The simplicity of the Royal Oak's dial and overall quality is appealing. How do these movements hold up and the servicing costs for these two watches compare? I haven't heard anything bad about the Daytona's movement. I have seen couple threads about the AP RO. I was also wondering if the current Daytona design will be changed soon. I feel like I can always buy a 15400ST later since its only been around for couple years. However, I feel like if I choose the Rolex, it is such a

Picture taken from google. As said, what are your thoughts regarding this model? I particularly liked the one with blue seconds hand. It's quite big, I think as large as a DSSD, but slightly thinner. Will it be an iconic watch? Will it bore me? Will it hold value if I decided to sell it?Any thoughts welcome! :)
So, I sold the BLNR...
...and almost immediately regretted it. Lots of reasons for selling, but I like to flip and change things up, and we had a good run. And prices seems to be up right now, so why not?The problem was, I did it on kind of a whim, and had no backup plan. It was my only watch! Sure, I have an old Seiko that appears to be about 34mm and is beat up, has an uncomfortable aftermarket strap with a deployment buckle that I can never seem to deploy. And I forgot how much I dislike Quartz watches. They give off a magnetic flux that interferes with the voices in my head. So, what to do? Well, I've had Omegas in the past, and thought I'd go there again, and after some research and shopping, I got the black ceramic Seamaster pictured below. I like the heft, the look and it wears well. It's not a Rolex, by no means, but it also cost less than a new Tudor, or an OP, or pretty-much anything that we Rolex aficionados would want.Omega has finally moved away from those gawd-awful pins in the bracelet
