Timex T-Series Automatic Watches
This is new to me, and I am not sure if you can get these in the US (but similar Timex watches in the US are available). These are Timex T-Series automatic mechanical watches. Pretty decent looking? mechanical watches from the brand known for quartz, quartz, and more quartz. Movements are 22 jewel automatics with a power reserve indicator and 24 hour hand. There is of course the time and the date. I believe the movements are Timex exclusives and have a 36 hour power reserve. The watches are in steel with sunburst decorated dials - in a few colors in addition to the black (such as white and blue dial colors). Along with the metal bracelet, there is a crocodile patterned black or brown leather strap. The T-Series Automatic watches take the legibility and practicality that Timex is known for, and gives it a bit of a higher-end push. Style is contained in the functional, no nonsense exterior. While very characteristically Timex, they are rarities compared with what you see mostly in the US.
Finally got it - Incoming!
Will have more pictures and a review sometime over the weekend after I get some more time with it. First impression : I love it!
Recommend me a good "watch kit" or "tool set"
HiI'm looking for a set of tools I could use on my Speedy Pro (3573.50) once I pick one up.My skill/knowledge level would be considered beginner. I just want to be able to switch straps, deployant buckle, and maybe even add/remove links from the ss chain. Thanks for the suggestions.
Patek AD Expansion
The Patek AD in La Jolla - C.J. Charles - is expanding their store to take over the next door business to better display its huge selection of Pateks, Langes, Panerais, Cartiers, IWCs, etc. Sales associates are both friendly and knowledgeable. They love to talk watches and monitor this forum. They also freely give out the latest catalogues for all watches, including the hardbound book of Langes (which I declined since I am not interested in that brand. Their collection of Lange is unparalleled, IMO).Current Pateks include Calatravas, Complications, and both Nautilus (5711 Gold on bracelet) and Aquanaut (I think SS, but don't remember). C.J. Charles is sited next to Westime, which has its own selection of high end watches.Anyone in the San Diego area should feel free to pop over to La Jolla and visit the watch stores on Prospect Avenue (the main street). PS: There is a waiting list for SS 5711's, naturally.
What inventions are attributed to Patek Philippe?
Hello everyone, I am opening this thread because I must say that I know very little about Patek Philippe except that it's one of the horological manufactures with the most history and inventions. But it's hard to see the reality, for example one website said that the 1st automatic wristwatch came out in the 1940's, when it's verified that it came out in 1924 in 3 manufactures, Blancpain and 2 others which I don't remember, using the Harwood registered trademark. So I would like to know what important innovations were brought into the watch industry. To be honest I don't really understand the huge prices of Pateks, apart from some pieces in the Patek haute horlogerie section, which are beautiful and great technical achievements, I can't say that I find Patek watches very beautiful, for example their Nautilus models are far from finding grace in my eyes, compared to Blancpain fifty fathoms, Rolex submariners and sea dwellers, to name the most famous diving watches, they are much less appeal
