Bremont Watch Company: Time To Take A Closer Look?
We watch enthusiasts are generally a pretty solid and reasonable bunch, but we aren't perfect. Aside from the general oddity that stems from being as passionate as we are about mechanical timekeeping, this passion sometimes gets the better of us. Occasionally, we go straight for the kill if we feel that our sensitivities have been tickled the wrong way. This type of behavior (for the sake of simplicity, let's just call it drama) is by no means limited to this sphere of the collector world, but it does seem really intense at times, with all of the passionate forum conversations and commentary about horology. Whether it is quartz vs. digital, smart vs. analog, a polarizing new design, or the misuse of subjective terminology, things can get heated quickly, and truths are often lost. After all, there are three sides to every storyA recent brouhaha involving Bremont Watch Company has thrown this opinionated side of the collecting hobby into stark relief. Ultimately, we strive to be informe
Bring a Loupe: A Dressy Rolex, A Complicated Credor, And A Great Speedmaster To Start Off 2016
Bring A Loupe kicks off 2016 with an unexpected selection: the watches featured today are not the usual crowd-pleasing favorites but, for one reason or another, they deserve more attention than they generally get. We've found a fantastic vintage dress watch from Rolex, and a modern Seiko Credor with a moon phase complication. I will also highlight some of the best – and worst – listings from eBay this past week, from a very promising Gallet to a sadly fraudulent Breitling Top Time. This is your Bring A Loupe for January 1, 2016, and I wish you a Happy New Year! Rolex Oyster Perpetual Reference 1013, With A Rose Gold Case 1 OF 11 I consider the 101X line as one of the greatest successes in Rolex vintage production. Think about it: you have the reference 1016, an amazing Explorer, and the reference 1019, a super attractive Milgauss. Besi
Strap suggestions for 5170-010.
Hello Everyone. As mentioned earlier, I recently acquired the 5170 with black dial (white seconds hand). I really do not like the shiny black strap on it and wanted to know what the group here thinks would be a good option...I'm planning on ordering a custom strap and not OEM from Patek so any colour combination is possible. 1. Matt Black with Black stitching main difference is going from shiny to matt which would match the opaline (matt) black dial better and dress it down.2. Matt Black with White (or Silvery) stictchiing which gives it a more sporty look and also ties in the white of the seconds hand. 3. Something totally different??? What would you suggest.I was leaning towards going with Matt Black with White stitching at first but a good friend said that it might draw away attention to the already nice white seconds hand instead of complimenting it.Would love to know what everyone things or would suggest.
Need your help 24 or 243
Hi All - I am adding a Submersible to my rotation and this question has been asked for many times before, 24 or 243? I have access to an I 243 and a M 24. The price difference is only $450. The small price difference is making this decision harder for me. What do you think? I need to make a call soon!!
