Antiquorum’s May Auction: World Records for Two Rolex Daytona Paul Newman Watches
Antiquorum's Important Modern & Vintage Timepieces auction held on Sunday, May 12th at The Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Geneva, headlined by a selection of vintage Rolex Daytona watches commemorating that model’s 50th anniversary, and set two new world records, including the highest ever sale price for a Daytona at auction. The auction featured a total of 518 carefully curated timepieces and drew bidders from around the world, notably from China, Hong Kong, Italy, the United States and Switzerland. Once again, it was a Patek Philippe that commended the top price at the sale, in this case a Patek Philippe Ref. 5002 Sky Moon Tourbillon in rose gold with special order case (lot 225). A unique piece with 12 complications, the watch was sold to an on-site bidder for the eye-opening price of CHF 1,202,500. The two-sided watch has an 18k rose gold case and its complications include a minute repeater with cathedral gongs, a one-minute tourbillon, a perpetual calendar with flyback re
The Story Behind Wryst Watches
Sponsored PostIn 2012, watch designer Jacques Fournier started his own watch brand named Wryst, after years of creating some of the most innovative modern watch designs under his company Horology Design, for brands aimed both at the mainstream as well as the ultra-high-end market. Born and educated in Switzerland, Fournier later moved to France and eventually to the UK, where he currently lives.Wryst was born out of Jacques' passion to create his idea of the ultimate lifestyle sports watch with a design that had never before been attempted. Wryst timepieces are mostly priced at under $1,000, but retain a sense of refined European design with a contemporary attitude intended for those watch lovers who share his aesthetic vision. He explains the story of Wryst watches from conception to concept below. Why do you design watches and how did you get into doing so?Jacques Fournier: At a young age, I was spending a lot of time looking at luxury timepieces in watch boutiques in Geneva or anywhe
Are Royal Oak (not Offshore) WR Ratings Conservative?
Hi All,Thinking of getting onto the Royal Oak bandwagon and wondering if AP are like Rolex in that their watches can handle depths much greater than what they were rated for? or if their WR Ratings are really the max you should take them to? OR if they shouldn't get wet at all?I'm the kind of guy who doesn't want to think about watches when I go about my day whether I'm at the gym, surfing, rock climbing etc.Looking particularly at either a 15300ST or the 15450STThanks all!
Incoming! BLNR GMT
Just got the call from my AD that my time on the waitlist is over! I've wanted the BLNR for a while (read 2 years) but never really could decide if it would get the wrist time it deserved. I usually wear AP's, or a YG DD40, but I feel like the BLNR will be an awesome everyday watch that will still feel like I'm wearing a special piece but may be a bit more under the radar then the aforementioned watches. Anyway, just wanted to share my enthusiasm with you guys and get an idea if anybody else chooses to wear a SS sports watch over a precious metal Rolex or other higher priced watch...I am hoping it doesn't disappoint!!
Submariner help please.
Evening all. I am seeing the pictures of the 5 digit subs and getting a bit broody. I have a bit of hesitation as I didn't like the clasp when I had a 2 liner and sold it. My GMT 16710 is amazingly comfy and great clasp and the sub clasp seemed too big. My other wares are PP 5712, Sub C LV and 16710 Pepsi. I bought the black bezel to scratch the itch and have more versatility but it just it's the same. Photo below. Please advise with loads of photos!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
