What It's Like To Be A Watch Blogger After 2,500 Posts
A few days ago, watches-dealer (formerly aBlogtoRead) hit the 2,500 posts milestone. It was only about a year ago that we celebrated our 2,000 posts milestone - with that really cool graphic I so enjoyed. In the last year a lot has happened over here at watches-dealer - it still feels funny using the new name as it is less than a month old at the time of writing this. During that time I have been interviewed in a lot of places, referenced in some major magazines and publications, and more or less sort of went mainstream. One reason aBlogtoRead as a name was retired was because the site for years now really hasn't been the niche watch lover blog for horologists only, but something a bit larger.Typically, this would be the time when someone in my position would thank everyone involved, say it has been amazing, and promise you all sorts of cool stuff for the future. The more I read that stuff the less it sounds sincere. Of course, everyone involved in the site such as our developer, Krist
Historical Perspectives: The IWC Ceramic Fliegerchronograph Reference 3705, A Look Back At A Rare Mo
One of the rarest and most interesting IWC watches of the last few decades is one that a lot of newer IWC clients and fans might not even have heard of: the long out-of-production reference 3705, ceramic cased “Fliegerchronograph” or Pilot’s Chronograph. The Fliegerchronograph was first introduced by IWC in 1994 (a follow-on from an almost completely forgotten hybrid quartz-mechanical watch, the 36 mm “Pilot’s Watch Chronograph,” which debuted at the Dübendorf Airfield, near Zurich, all the way back in 1988). The ceramic cased "Fliegerchronograph Keramik" 3705 was introduced in the same year as the standard stainless steel version, reference 3706. We covered 3705 in a comparison with a modern ceramic IWC pilot's chrono almost four years ago, so we thought it might be time to take another look. 1 OF 7 3705 was not the first ceramic cased watch made by IWC. The company had experimented with zirconium oxide ceramic as ea
Is it Just a Watch? What is Your Story
I have been a member of TRF for a couple of years, finding my way here as I researched my first purchase. I have been somewhat quiet, content in many ways to just listen and learn more about a subject that has fascinated me for many years. My apologies for the lost post and if this is a repeat of any earlier threads posted here, but one of the things that drives the passion I have for collecting is the connection that people seem to have to their collection. I have alluded to my background a bit in previous posts and a bit about what my watches mean to me. For every timepiece I have, from the G-Shock that my wife bought me two decades ago, to my most recent purchase, there is a connection. I suspect for all of you in this seemingly crazy pursuit of ours, your watches have a special meaning and each have a story. Share if yours if you like. Here is mine:I am the product of a home in which I had two parents who, after half of a century remain together. Both grew up on the east coast o

Adding or changing collection
I've been thinking of adding another watch or possibly selling a couple to upgrade . My current collection is as follows. -SubC ND-Sub LV Kermit-GMT Pepsi birth year-Omega Speedmaster mkII racing dial-Omega SM300 watchcoI have been eyeing an Exp 1 36mm or maybe selling a few and getting a Daytona. Other options would be a speedmaster. I really don't dress up to buy something more formal, never wear a suit. Also with the rotation I have been moving away from date watches, I don't even set the date when I wear my sub or gmt.Any thoughts on what I should get sell or consider in order to add variety? I wear the Omegas the least. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
