worn&wound 2013 Retrospective
Wow, 2013 is over and it’s been a fantastic year for worn&wound! We’ve more than tripled our readership, made various improvements to the site all around and, most importantly, acquired several new and extremely talented writers! We’ve kept true to our focus on news and reviews of affordable and well-designed wrist watches, while also expanding our coverage of watch culture as a whole, style and random curiosities that caught our eye.We also designed, manufactured and released several new (and great) American-made watch accessories, available in our store at shop.wornandwound. This is a big part of the w&w picture, and we have many cool new products planned for 2014, so keep an eye out.The articles selected for this retrospective only scrape the surface of all of the pieces published this year, but we think they give you a good taste of 2013. Omega Lume Questions...
I have a couple of questions regarding Omega lume.The lume on my old Seamaster and PO 2500 was of course, green and absolutely superb.The lume on my new Seamaster Ceramic and PO 8500 is blue, with green on the minute hands and lume pips and IMHO, isn't nearly as good as the old green lume.Question one: Why did Omega make this change? I know Rolex is using blue lume on some of their models now, too. Was it to try and keep up with them, or is there some reason blue lume would be better? It just isn't as bright.Question two: I read on a different Omega forum that Omega was using Seiko lume (Lumibrite?) This makes no sense. Lumibrite is Seiko's proprietary lume. I thought Omega would/does use Super Luminova. Please clarify.For comparison sake, below are lume pics of my old PO 2500 followed by my new PO 8500.TIA,-MarcPO 2500PO 8500

I can get just one PP, so 5711 Blue dial or 5130P?
The 5711 is so popular that I can't even get on a waiting list at ADs.And the premiums that are being asked on the gray market for a 5711 are incredible. So, I am actually considering getting another PP, the 5130P WT instead. I have no world timer watch or even a GMT watch, so the 5130 would add a new aspect and variety to my collection, although I would never travel with it.Then again, should I wait and see about trying to get a 5711, even though the prices are climbing as I type? I know that I have to ultimately decide for myself, but am curious what others would choose, if the option was between a 5711 or a 5130?
