The Value Proposition: The Stowa Partitio Black Automatic, A 37 mm Vintage-Inspired Watch Under $1,0
Based on a simple 1930s model from the Stowa archives, the Partitio Black Automatic retains much of the understated functional design that began to gain popularity at that time. Moreover, the slim proportions – 37 mm in diameter and about 11 mm in thickness – are a breath of fresh air for those who prefer more discreet and wearable watches. At just under $725, the three-hand watch with black dial and an unfussy case design presents good value relative to other vintage-inspired models with ebauche movements on the market today. 2 OF 8 The 37 mm stainless steel case features linear lugs. The Partitio Black Automatic follows the same Bauhaus design ethos as another watch we reviewed in the last column, The Nomos Tangente. The hallmarks of Bauhaus design (and good design in general), most notably a symbiosis between form and function, are on full display with this model.Additionally, a great attention to detail has been paid to the typesetting and typefaces u
Brietling from Costco
I sent Costco an Email today as I am looking to buy a Chronomat B01 on their website for $5499. I know this would not have manufacturers warranty. but if this falls under Costco's Guaranteed satisfaction for as long as you own the product I will likey get it at Costco. I returned a 2 year old TV and they were good about it but have since changed their policy regarding electronics and PCs. But I don't think watches fall under that. If they email me back and say I am covered until i am no longer satisfied it's a no brainer to buy from them and save $3000 over my local AD who wants MSRP and does not have the dial I want. Costco went to battle with Rolex over selling Rolex in their warehouses and apparently Rolex won.
I might be going nuts thinking about this
Yes, I'm thinking to flip my Rolexes for an Aquanaut 5167 Really love the look especially on brown or military green rubber strap.I have a few second thoughts though about commencing the search.Currently have a 1016 from 87 and a polar Explorer II from 2000. I'm really looking forward to input from all Aquanaut owners or past owners. I'm concerned about the following.1.) Obviously the service process is complicated and probably a lot more expensive than with Rolex. What is the average cost and how often maintenance is required?2.) Looking at my Rolexes I can comfortably say they're both true daily beaters, especially the Ex II. Can you place an Aquanaut into the same arena of usage, ruggedness and durability?3.) what do you think of versatility of the watch. I can assure you that the 1016 goes with literally any attire for any occasion. Do you feel that the 5167 can be dressed up or down just easily?4.) 1016 is a very sought after vintage piece that if I flip with my Ex II together fo
