Collection of 4,300+ Swatch Watches Sells for $6,650,000
One of the most complete collections of Swatch watches in the world sold for HK$51,707,500 or nearly $6,650,000 in Hong Kong recently. Swiss businessman Peter Blum and his wife Linda assembled the collection over a period of years. The collection’s 4363 pieces includes a large number of prototypes, hybrids and production variants never brought to market. Many of the prototypes date from the extraordinary period prior to commercialization of the first Swatch watches in the early 1980s, and so are extremely rare. Among the most interesting and sought-after by collectors are a number of prototypes designed by the American artist Keith Haring, as well as the artist's legendary Swatch watches Modele avec Personnage, Milles Pattes, Serpent and Blanc sur Noir. Additional rarities include Swatch watches created by artists Mimmo Paladino, Alfred Hofkunst and Sam Francis.Conducted by Phillips de Pury & Company, this one-of-a-kind auction attracted considerable interest during pre-sale
Well the Greece is still kicking and of luxury Swiss watches manufacturer Vacheron Constantin
The second I saw this, I was laughing. A limited-edition for the Greece luxury watch? Are they call the "special bailout." The subject of countless articles and media, everyone on the planet knows that the Greece is outta cash. Without the help of the EU, the Greece was about to follow the example of Circuit City. Well the Greece is still kicking and of luxury Swiss watches manufacturer Vacheron Constantin has just released a limited edition of their Overseas chronograph for the Greek elite.
Hooked!
Unloaded 2 watches (Rose Gold Franck Muller Conquistador & Panerai Daylight) and picked up these two..IMG_1832.JPGIMG_0861.JPGCan't believe how awesome AP is and why it me this long to get in the game. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Lume question
On my Pam 24 the hands are very bright so is the bezel pip. The dial lume is not very bright, weak but still very visible (even with a charge). It is an F series. Does this mean the hands were replaced to luminova and the dial is tritium? It was recently serviced this year.I like the patina and planned on advising service center not to replace it, when it is due service. Input, as always, greatly appreciated.
What do I get next?
As we slide into 2018, I'm pondering my next watch purchase. Do I stick with Rolex/Tudor, or venture into another brand? A few things I know..... I want a sport watch, I do not want a hulk (ordered it....green was a no go.....ad sold to another guy), and I'd prefer it not cost a fortune. Some of you know that a big part of my watch selections revolve around the whims of my little girls, which makes things pretty fun, and generally they have great taste. But at this point color tends to be the deciding factor with the youngest digging blue and the oldest a purple fan..... my current collection includes a BLNR (which is just about the perfect watch in my eye) and BBN as I sold off my EXPII last summer and haven't looked back. But I do need a replacement..... so considering the following........A. 16710 Pepsi (oldest loves it but wears small to me)B. Moonwatch + Red Grape OPC. Pelagos LB + Red Grape OP (but would I wear the OP or just placating a little girl? Hmm..)D. Either of the above
