Samsung Galaxy Gear Smartwatch
We knew it was only a matter of time before some of the big names in the electronics industry dove into the burgeoning smartwatch category, and Samsung is the second of the big guys to announce, after Sony's SmartWatch 2, with their recently introduced Galaxy Gear smartwatch that debuted today. As you can guess from its name, the Galaxy Gear is part of Samsung's larger Galaxy lineup of mobile devices, and it shares some of the design language those other devices have. It also shares an operating system - the Galaxy Gear comes equipped with Android 4.3. A real draw are the ready-to-use, specially made apps to help keep using the Gear interesting. While I can't be absolutely certain, this seems like it would make development for the device much easier than some of the other smaller brand watches coming out, as folks won't have to learn a whole new language to code for - they'll just have to adjust for the limitations of this wrist-top device. Also similar to a phone? Battery life. They're
MKII Vantage for Epaulet
I'll start this post with a disclaimer: by the time I had a chance to write about the watch that inspired this post, it was sold out. I decided it was worth writing about anyway, since it is a beautiful watch by an interesting brand, being sold at a fantastic store. That watch, of course, is the MKII Vantage for Epaulet. The now discontinued and sold out MKII Vantage is an homage to the timeless Rolex Explorer. There is a fairly thorough history of the Rolex here, but to briefly summarize the Explorer was designed to commemorate the Everest expedition by Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay in 1953. It was designed to be highly legible, extra durable and function in wide range of temperatures That is to say, be ready for adventure. The look of the watch just exudes purpose and elegance. It is the kind of watch that can be worn in any circumstance and with probably any piece of attire. The Vantage keeps the Explorer dial, but is quite different in some other ways. Here is a side-by-si
ROO safari
I have set the ROO safari as my target for next year haha. any of you own it and have any comment on it? i just love the cream dial along with the brown strap. what do you guys think? any other recommendations?
A Patek dilemma
I've been an active member of this great forum for quite some time now, but this is the first topic I've opened about a non-Rolex watch. I'm sorry about the very long post.I've gone through numerous watch brands and several sub-$5000 watches in the past few years. My modest collection currently includes a Breitling Colt II Quartz (the beater), a SS Sub-C LN (the everyday wear), an Omega Speedmaster MoonWatch from 1969 (the vintage watch), and last but certainly not least an AP Royal Oak 15300ST (the one for special occasions). I want to extend my collection slowly, by only getting one watch per year. I'm also determined to get only one watch per each brand I find interesting, and make sure not to add multiple similar watches to my collection. I also don't want to trade in any of my current watches to fund a next purchase, so one can consider all my current watches keepers. As you can see, my collection so far is geared towards sporty models. That is because despite being in my 30'
First Panerai PAM 1312
Hi fellas,Finally pulled the trigger on my first Panerai, PAM 1312. I know some do not like the blue seconds hand but it doesn't really stand out that much in person. The slightly slimmer case because of the updated P.9010 movement was what I liked most since I have relatively small wrists but still wanted the 44mm case size.I love the crown guard which is so unique to Panerai.Glad to have joined the club. Cheers!
