MMT 'Horological Smartwatch' Platform Ties Switzerland To Silicon Valley
Ever since the smartwatch became a thing, I have been preaching that companies need to pool their resources and talents to create something that consumers want. A new type of smartwatch platform called MMT (Manufacture Modules Technologies) was just announced out of partnership between a series of companies both in Switzerland and in Silicon Valley. This isn't a big deal just because it means the small but crowded smartwatch market has a new face, but because, in my opinion, it represents a wise step in the right direction of how the Swiss luxury watch industry needs to integrate itself into the smartwatch world. Welcome to the MMT electronic watch movement family and the Horological Smartwatch.Peter Stas, CEO of Frdrique Constant / Alpina, wearing the Frdrique Constant Horological Smartwatch Reference FC-285V5B4Who is behind MMT? IWC Connect, An Activity Tracker Integrated Into The Strap Of Big Pilot, And Soon To Be All IWC Spor
Here we go again. Today, IWC made the announcement of a new accessory called IWC Connect. This digital device fits onto the strap of mechanical IWC watches – at first just the Big Pilot – and provides full activity tracking. Further, IWC claims it will be able to control certain devices connected to the "Internet of things," the buzzword du jour. Very, very few details are provided on IWC Connect, or how it will compare to Montblanc's e-strap that you will remember launched in January to much buzz. We'll be following this one closely and we'll report back as soon as more information is provided. Further info available here.
incoming...with question
Well looks like I've got the watch buying disease....I just picked up this 2531.80 today which makes this now my second Omega in few weeks time. I better slow down. Here's my conundrum: The original owner stated that this watch was purchased new in 2000 and was stored away all this time. If a watch hasn't been running for say 10 years...should I: Take it in and have it and check out and Lubricated, etc?Or just wear it?

Does this make me a bad person
Well went Christmas shopping well the wife did so I decided to go into the ad and have a look. As we are all saying at the moment no sports at all so got chatting and I ordered a GMT BLNR to justify this to my wife (she has no interest in watches) I said that it was getting discontinued or should I say the ad said it was getting discontinued. Please make me feel better
